Which is why the temptation of the devil was and is on these three. For if he can break this you have very little protection.
The first sign of SIN
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
One tries to hide away from the VOICE of GOD.
And here is why:
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Sin always causes MORE sin. And the first place it attacks is YOUR COMMUNICATION with God. For if you have communciation your DEEDS can be REPROVED. It can be cleansed. It can be made whole.

Gen 3:9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Gen 3:10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
Fear, Rationalization, Action
Giving over to the fruit of EVIL. Giving in to FEAR. This leads that you try and reason HOW God would respond...and makes you take action against the POSSIBLE (ACCORDING TO YOU) response from God, which drives you EVEN further away.

For one cannot ask for forgiveness before you have not acknowledge that you were the one that made the error.
This causes division between you and anyone assiosiated with your sin.
