When I go to be still before the Lord my flesh becomes very active. I hear every little sound, my body starts to itch, I cannot stay in one position very long and my mind races with the items that need to be accomplished. I do want the discipline of soaking in God’s presence by waiting on him. I would like to know what others do to get ready to just sit before the Lord. We are to just sit not read or listen to music. Thank you
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. Psalm 62:1
Ps.46: 10 "Be still and know that I am God
Psalm 37:7 "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him
Is. 40: 31 "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint
Matthew 11. He says, "Come to Me, you who are tired and overburdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls

Howdy Shilo. This has been a challenge in my Christian life also.

As someone very health and active and also from an educated and intellectual background, I did have a great challenge to sit and wait before God, or even to arrive in His prescence. His prescence I define as knowing Him, actively. At first it took a long time before all other throughts and concerns fell away.

But I persevered, knowing we have no other real hope in life, except to know God personally.

Patience is extremely refining, as you know yourself (James 1), its exersice and full exploration is unmatched for building character, even giving us that greatly desireableable virtue courage.

At one time I waited on God for seven weeks. I mean waited. I did nothing, except sit. Of course I got up for meals etc., but I sat and waited without books, music and the other stimulations that are just passing the time when we want to wait on God.

I just encourage you to persevere and wait. Until all else falls away before the prescence of God.

The book "The Prescence of God" contains the theme that we wait on God before anything else. Before you do, seek His face, before you ask, seek His face, before you pray, before anything, before all, seek His face. I think this is valueable.

I know this has not been exactly on your theme, but I wanted to contribute this, to you, and awaiting other posts.

One last insight for any who are reading, which I have found valueable to me:

How can we come into the prescence of God when we cannot sense Him?

Worship. Worship Him, and we will come into His prescence.

Best wishes to you, and to all.

(Any struggle extrodinarily can walk and pray.) (aloud)

That Not ONLY IS it obvious to US that HE IS Not HERE;

But also that HIS WILL would NEVER be in such a thing as THIS temporal flesh condition/situation.

And that WE WILL wait unto death, IF nescesary

Until WE hear from HIM, as to what it IS that HE would have US do.

These scriptures I love so much, as they trully will in Jesus bring the peace one seeks.
Be still and know I am God.
It is in knowing that everything is of God Our Father in Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh, given through His Holy Spirit.
When we humble ourselves, knowing that everything is and comes from our Father , we rest in His presance.
For even being still is of His hand, knowing Jesus is the way, truth and life, tells one that all we need to do is rest in Jesus, everything comes through Him.
To often one thinks they must do, rather than in faith knowing that Jesus brings all to compleation in one.
Scripture does tell us though, to go before the Lord with praise and singing psalms. :)
Just praise God, Jesus will bring the rest to compleation in you.

God bless

Asked in this way, i'm not even sure what exactly it is your asking.

Yehovah or Yahavah as i know to be more accurate of The Fathers Holy Name, I AM that I AM is what i witness YES, His written Word through Moses & The Prohet's.

I also more importantly witness that THE ONLY way for anyone to contact HIM through Prayer IS through The High Preist for one and ALL Jesus The Christ/ Yeshua Messiah; IF you follow His instructions, "Christ's".

If on the other hand, you are asking me what denomination my faith IS, its always been CHRIST, though i went through numerous denominations of Christianity, my spirit DID NOT bear witness 100% as to what they preached or practised, though i did learn some things in each of them. Its NEVER a waste of time searching for GOD"S TRUTH.

After i lost My Faith completly at the age of 42; I began to have My Faith Re-Affirmed in The Word of GOD," TORAH" in less than 12 hours

Though i was totaly undeserving of an answer; as i litteraly through a tantrum at Him, and gave-up  In His Mercy He answered me with HIS written Word; after Believing in The Living Word my whole Life. Now my faith is unshakable and my joy and peace of mind Rock Solid Forever :)

PRAISE BE TO YAHAVAH

JUDAH/PRAISE BE TO YESHUA MESSIAH/ JESUS THE CHRIST

Forever in Christ :)

I think of it this way - I am never as cognizant of my physical weakness than when I lift weights, but that's precisely the problem I'm addressing. Or, when a person goes to a doctor and lists his complaints, these are symptoms without which we wouldn't know about a disease.

Rather than view these things as distractions, view them as the reason you're there. With apologies, I doubt you will in this life be without them. Your job isn't to be without them, though, but to present to God the intention to be open to his presence.

So, one thing I do is to check my intention - is it to have a good prayer session or present myself to God as his faithful servant, regardless of the outcome? When these things intrude, return once again to your intention.
