Like I have said in previous posts I am not the most knolagable christian, but I am daily improving and studying the bible..
My question
I have been a boxer for many many years, and I feel it has done me alot of good - kept me away from drugs etc, many of my christian friends from church have told me to stop boxing, and studying mma (which I have been doing more recently this last year)
What is a biblical perspective on this?
I dont see boxing as violent as it has helped me in many ways avoid confrontation and not drink drugs etc, given me a purpose when going abroad etc, but ultimatley it is an art that can hurt people...
It was nothing wrong when Saul, in ignorance to the coming MESSIAH, and according to the Law of Moses, stoning the Christian for spreading heresy among his fellow Jews. What was the written punishment according to the Law of Moses towards spreading heresy/strange teachings against what Moses gave to their ancestors, causing divisions among their community?
So after hearing from JESUS on the way to Damascus, he became a new man named Paul and stop harming people in any way and by any possible means and rather now let people, even his enemies to harm him instead, for the Gospel sake. Instead of taking lives for a Good cause, as he and others placed in authority presumed, as doing a favor for GOD by obeying the Law of Moses, he now gave his own life like JESUS and the Apostles, by lay it down in order to win many for the Kingdom of GOD. This is 'Agape' of GOD, in order to save many.
Ask your 'self', do you love your opponent boxers, so that they will not sin in vengeful towards you when you win? Unless you take all the beatings and let them win all the time and confess to them, you did for JESUS who loves them. This sound like a fake Gospel.
Peter, Andrew, John and James were fishermen and Peter led them to go back fishing, when the MASTER was away for a short moment. When the MASTER returned and called, HE instructed them to become 'fishers of men' and HE will show them how.
These are all written until our present age to witness their mistakes and act wiser in order to make them proud of their afterwards labor to establish and built up the church, 'a gathering' called the body of CHRIST.
we are the new creation, a new creature, set apart/sanctified, should be alien to the pattern of this world in 'self' achievements, for us 'not' to be conformed to, even though they may seem harmless, but at the beginning, but then again a devourer at it's heights.
We know from many famous celebrities who came from a Christian background, used their blessed talent because of their parent and came out and sown them to the pattern of this world, thinking doing Good to change the world and make it a better place, for you and me and the entire human race. Sadly, what happened to them, that stabbed the hearts of their parents. The prodigals that did not return and they all are a reminder and a stir up of our memory not to mess around, thinking it is okay to compromise and 'test the LORD thy GOD' because of HIS Grace and Truth, LORD JESUS CHRIST.
HE is not only the 'Loving GOD' but also the 'Consuming Fire'. 'HE have no favorites, nor respective of men'. They all have to welcome and honor the New Covenant in 'abiding', as to honor HIS SON's words of spirit and life redemption in practical and witnessing to a perishing world, condemn to hell. Because of being in ignorance of the Gospel to warn them and rather join them to fix things in this world without CHRIST, then be ready to be 'spit out' by the MASTER as 'lukewarm' generations.
According to CHRIST chosen instrument Apostle Paul, the Power and Wisdom of GOD is in the Gospel. Please spend time in becoming spiritual by welcoming the written Gospel, even in practices in our own lives and witness them to the world, without using any of their patterns or wisdom in mix matching witnessing.
Be encouraged to become as a spiritual boxer, like Apostle Paul proclaimed, that his labor was 'not just punching the air', rather than a physical boxer punching others in further bruises, cuts, glory of T.K.O. or K.O. and title belts. Because JESUS of the Gospel taught disciples, from ordinary physical fishermen became chosen spiritual trained instruments of 'fishers of men' for the Kingdom of GOD, honoring CHRIST's words of spirit and life.
You and i who have surrendered to GOD because of CHRIST, have no rights anymore, but submission and obedience to the New Covenant in learning them in whole and practicing them and witnessing them, when once we were lost and now have been found and in gratitude witnessing to the ignorant, earning Grace and showing Grace in repentance.
It is better to thrust forward, seeking Help and finding help in all our weakness, to 'comply with' and to 'conform to', the New Covenant generation, rather than looking back and turning back, to flesh/carnal that we have supposedly buried. Sadly, 'It will be worst off for such person that better he or she shouldn't have come to know CHRST and accept first of all'.
This Prophesy is to build up those who are lacking in the New Covenant Spiritual sound doctrine knowledge and heading towards the wrong way and not at all to stir up debates or arguments or to destroy. Each must distinguish themselves 'the road' we are called to walk on and the direction is the New Covenant and the HOLY SPIRIT as our 'Teacher' and 'Comforter'.
