Here in Oregon, the "Boy Scouts" have been keeping files on men who are pedophiles who have applied for leadership positions. Some have already been to court and convicted due to Scouting activities, some have been convicted for outside activities, and some have not been publicly accused yet but their files have extensive documentation held in secret
The "Boy Scouts" usually spend a great deal of time and effort to establish the facts before they kick a person out for such activity, but it is not done by the police. Accusations are always treated seriously. But until today those files were kept in their offices and kept secret. But according to a court order they were forced to release this information to the public so they did it.
These secret files have enabled some of the men to avoid prosecution but because they kept them secret it is likely that those men have done it again and just not caught. It has been a blight on the whole Scouting movement and I can hope the whole nationwide organization can do the very same thing.
