Dear friends,

I apologize in advance for my use of the "cut and paste" option; I know that this offends some of you. I was uncomfortable composing this thread in real time; and needed the word processing option.

I was reading my Bible the other day and I came across a phrase which literally sent chills up my spine. In his second letter to the Thessalonians, Paul took his shot at describing the antichrist. He called him “the man of lawlessness”. And after describing him briefly, and summarizing his impact on the world, Paul wrote “And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed,…” (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8, emphasis added)

Looking back over the last 50 years or so, I believe that we can plainly see the efforts that are being made to see that “He is taken out of the way.” Eliminating prayer in schools, “separation of church and state”, ridding our public places of the Ten Commandments, advocacy of gay pastors in churches; all these seemingly innocent concessions to political correctness (“after all, everybody has rights”) have served to reduce this country’s knowledge of, and dependence on, God and Jesus Christ.

Our historical textbooks have been scrubbed of all references to our Judeo-Christian heritage. Our founders are portrayed as godless autocrats; motivated solely by economic concerns. Prayer has been eliminated at school graduation ceremonies, and even sporting events. The ACLU vigorously pursues the elimination of all references to Christianity, wherever they appear.

Meanwhile, plans are made to build a Muslim Mosque at the site of the largest terrorist attack ever perpetrated on this country, by radical Islam. Gays can “pridefully” strut down our city streets in parades which glorify a lifestyle which is “detestable” to God. Abortion has led to the murder of millions of innocent souls.

Since its founding, the United States of America has been a key bastion of Christianity in the free world. Tracing our roots back to the “providence” of God, we have been instrumental in leading the fight to hold back the “man of lawlessness”. I believe that there can be no doubt that major efforts are being made to take “the one” out of the way, in this country and throughout the world. It is up to us, as Christians, to resist these efforts in every way. The alternative is unthinkable.

So I urge each of you to get involved in any way you can. Speak the truth in love to everyone you meet. Search for, and support, political candidates whose values reflect our Christian heritage. Work for them, vote for them and convince your friends and family to vote for them. When you hear someone spouting the politically correct drivel of the secular humanists, challenge them. Make them prove their premises with facts; not the vitriol with which they are so familiar.

And most of all, pray! Pray for our country. Pray for its leaders. Pray that our congressmen and senators see the real truth and receive the courage to vote their convictions. I believe that the world stands on a precipice. It is up to those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and worship the one true God, to try and prevent it from tipping over. With God’s help, we may at least prevent the coming of the “man of lawlessness” in our, and our children’s, lifetime(s).

God bless America!
