JetBlue offers free flights to voters if their candidate loses
American airline JetBlue is offering free flights for voters who would like to temporarily leave the country, if their candidate for the 2012 U.S. Presidential election loses.
In a marketing strategy that rides next month's election, the JFK airport-based airline company announced Wednesday that it will give away round trip flights for American customers who have backed a losing candidate on November. In a promotional blast in JetBlue's official website titled "Election Protection 2012", the New York airline said "If your candidate doesn't win, don't worry. Here's your chance to get out of the country with a free flight." JetBlue will give away 1,006 or 2,012 seats for Americans who will be on the losing side of the contention between Republican nominee Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama. Travelers can visit the official election page of JetBlue to vote for the next U.S. President. There will be no purchase necessary in the contest which ends on November 5. In a statement for Daily Mail, a JetBlue spokesman said, "We've all heard it said before: if my candidate does not win, I'm leaving the country. . . in this spirit we decided to give people a chance to recover from the political noise and follow through on their claim to skip town if their candidate comes up short." American travelers who voted for their losing candidate will be given a brief getaway outside the United States, in JetBlue's international destinations that includes the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Turks and Caicos, St.Maarten and Grand Cayman. The round trip flight does not include state taxes, hotel accommodations and other fees.
