I would like to suggest a feature that is used on other chat sites, such as Christian Dating For Free and Passions Network. They have the option to block someone in the chatroom so that any messages that person types in the chat room will not appear on your screen.

Christian Chat has an Ignore button, but all that does is block PMs. It would be helpful if you had a feature that allows us to block people in the Lounge and other chatrooms so that they are not able to speak to you in the chatroom.

This has been suggested numerous times. The reason it hasn't been implemented is this would also require blocking them on mic. And that would be a mess. I believe, last i heard, he was working on some way to do this, but i'm not positive i if i'm remembering correctly on that, or if it was something else. But they have their own reasons for not having it in at this time.

I've been on chatrooms which have this feature, I don't think we need this feature on cc as there are many mods on the site who are always there to make sure ppl don't say things they aren't supposed to & to make sure ppl aren't being harrassed by trolls etc.. sites I've been on that have this feature, very rarely have mods on. cc is a much better moderated site, if you were to have the ignore feature where you can ignore what someone types in the main room, then I think it would make things confusing, I don't think this feature is required on cc as mods always do their job efficiently & remove anyone who is being disrespectful straight away.

Yeah it would be difficult to block them on the mic just for one individual. I think the mods do well to sort out this stuff.

I'm glad this feature is not available...this is suppose to be a christian site and i know at times there can be some "undesirables" however, I think having this feature would stop an opportunity for God to work in our hearts with regards to conflicting people and I agree with everyone the mods are doing a great job!

Exactly! I think the mods on this site do their job very efficiently.. ppl that come on who act disrespectfully are usually taken care of by the mods straight away. I'm also worried about the mis-use of this ignore feature by ppl just to ignore you cos they don't feel like listening to you, which would be a very hurtful thing to do, cos you think you are talking to someone but they can't hear or see what you're typing cos they've put you on ignore.. this is why I think the ignore feature is a bad idea.

If the blocking works two ways I could see that being somewhat valid. So they if you block them you can neither say anything to then nor can they say anything to you.

The way in which this fails and pretty much every time is that you see conversations happening in which you have no idea why people are saying what they are saying because you just so happen to have the person blocked that everyone else is talking to. I have actually blocked people in other chats and it becomes quite the...debacle.

If someone is harassing you then the mods can deal with it. If you just don't happen to like the way a person thinks or talks, I'd say it is part of maturity to learn to deal with people like that in life, they are always going to be there.

Admit it. People have annoyed you before. Even if you have the red text that says "Don't PM me," people do this anyway, and that's why the Ignore button exists. I bet you are grateful that CC has an Ignore button for this purpose. The person messaging you has not violated any of the rules, but they're annoying, and the ability to block annoying people makes any chatroom a more pleasant experience. The only times I have reported people to mods is in extreme cases when their behavior reaches the point of harassment. I do not want to be that person who is a snitch and reports people simply because they're annoying. As for mods, they would probably have less work and less of a headache as well if CC had a blocking feature. They wouldn't have to deal with people's drama because users would be able to deal with it on their own. It's like Passions Network (which I don't endorse because I like CC a lot better) says, "Recommended solution for chatroom problems: Block."

This isn't really true. Often times i hear of behavior on CC that could and Should be reported, yet never gets reported. Meanwhile people report each other left and right on things that they have no right to. While i'm all for an ignore feature in chats, it only means less people who Deserve to get reported, actually will.
