Why do some Christians find it easy to go to an all night prayer vigil on your behalf but cannot just simply sit and talk to you about the issues that need prayer?

I personally don't think a lot of Christians even know why they believe what they believe, so to discuss their beliefs would put those beliefs "at risk". This is just what I have personally found. One night, high as a kite and contemplating suicide, I walked in to my childhood church and asked a childhood friend who has been a Christian all her life, "How do you know that what you believe and live is really true?" I was desperate for someone to give me a reason to believe. Her reply was, "Because that's what we were taught." No other explanation, no other offer of discussion. I walked out of there disappointed and into 5 more years of total rejection of God.

What issues do you need help with? I find it's better to give advice on what people can do to help their situation, since the prayer thing is a given. <3 At least that is with me.

Well, your question could be taken two ways either you are talking about why a person may not talk about his problems or why a person may not talk about your problems.
1. Because a lot of Christians are judgmental and it makes it hard to share. I mean if someone needed prayer for watching porn someone would say something like you are a sinner (aren't we all) you are going to hell (don't we all deserve that), but this is not what Christ taught. Christ taught us to love the sinner hate the sin. He prayed for and with people for redemption of sins and thats what we should do.
2. Because people are scared if they tell each other the truth someone might get angry and sometimes they are scared they don't know enough answers so they just avoid it

Like, I may know something is wrong and/or sinful, knowing that most of my opinions are naturally based on the Bible, but another "Christian" may not see it as wrong/sin.
People are different. Not all whom call themselves Christian are, while a few are somewhat ignorant when it comes to scripture.
Some Christians have different beliefs/views, but all Christians should be able to share their faith with others.

The reason that some/not all can't tell someone about their faith , maybe; because they don't know yet how to articulate/explain it,( babes) or they don't really have faith, saying it and living it, is two different things.
Jesus came preaching Repent-Repent. All our troubles we go through is because of our sins. it does not matter when we had sinned; if they now have a relationship with God; ( living a repentent life) we have been told to go preach repentence. Yes, I have sinned, and No, I am not perfect. But the Thing is I am not preaching; ,,,,Cookie; But Christ salvation; and the removing of God's wrath upon THE SINNER. We cannot tell someone God loves them the way they are,,, Yet he will except you as you are, BUT; God will love you if you're willing to allow him to wash you , are you willing to die to self that God may live?
I will tell you the truth about God, that He has a wrath against All sinner, as the Bible teaches.... The wicked will not go unpunished. I will tell you if their is unrepentence of ALL sins in one's life, God has a punishment for you; His Wrath. See if God hate sin and love the sinners, why do he say the sinner is his enemy... not the sin... Why is there is a hell for those who continue to live in sin,, weather they say Lord, Lord, Lord and not allowing him to wash them; rejecting him while confessing him. It Is Not The Sin that will go to hell; it is ''THE SINNER''
So, if you want to know why what I believe is the way, it is not that my Sins was nailed to the cross; But my sins was poured on a sinless Man, who was nailed to the cross. A man who Father poured his Wrath on him because he saw my sins in him. And he scourged Him, beat him, He sent him to hell, because he saw My sins in him. And then raised Him up out of Hell; defeating Hell and death for me. This Man, The Son Of God, never should have been their, Yes He should have because it was the only way ; Because He received the wrath of God in stead of me and for all you receive him in their hearts ( he becoming your will, your emotions and your intellect) . not just confessing him, but be a doer and not a hearer only. Those who are willing to give their entire lives to the Will of the Father and live a life according to God's will and God's way.
See, To be willing to die for the profession of Christ being "The Only Way" not A way. ( as to say there are many ways; this is your and this is mine) those of us who are not willing to sound like the World, look like the World, think like the World, Feel like the World, see like the World, but despartly wanting to remove the World from them a put Christ Jesus in it's place in their hearts/souls. For those WHO are of the World is an enemy to God, God is Love and that is why he hates. for what ever he don't Love "He Hates" do you make people dislike you when you preach the truth? Do they wish they can stone you? or is the world in agreement with you and you are in agreement with it. they say when we praech against their sinful lives we are preaching Hatred.. hmmmm, sound like a lot of confessing christians I hear everytime the Word of God is preached. "that is hatred" Where is your love? they ask.
The Bible say While we were "enemies" to God and had enemity ( Deep seeded Hatred) with God and God with us, ( the carnal mind is enemity with God. Christ died.

See It does not say God loved us, but that he was giving his Love, showing that his love is worthy to be excepted, to be praised, His Love can be aproved of, His Love can be trusted by use all, and God's way of showing it/commened it; is through the birth, life, works, torture, death, beriual (hell) , and resurrection of His Son.
God do not Love the sinner neither do He love their sins, because our sins is who we are when we are living them; the same as when we become christians, because we live like Christ. this is why the Lord said to be ye transformed and be not comformed to this world. God said he find no pleasure in the death of the wicked; there is no joy in him to see someone go to hell. If a tree/branches that is in Christ/God and it bare no fruit He will cut it down. Romans/ say this of why the Jews was cut off and how much more we who has been grafted in. see some think because they say they Love, they bare fruit... but some show love and it remains.
So the reason for my faith is that we I received the Lord in my heart, he changed me for I only want to do his will.
I am not famous, nor rich, neither do I seek any reputation, I don't need the world to except me; neither do I have a desire for none of these things. See the worst day I have had in this walk with the Lord; is better then the best day I had without him. Christ's salvation is real and I have it. I have found the love of God to be worthy of praise and to be trusted for my soul and spirit.
No, It does not agree with many ; don't care; it agrees with God. It is a stumbling set before those who want to have a sunshine life. I too love the people ( their souls ); I will introduce them to the real Christ/God that is in the bible; Not one man made themselves. Christ is "The Only WAY". We will know he is the way we have chosen by the fruit in our lives... we say we love people but we lie to them... if that is love I don't want it... We let the blind go into a burning building, because we don't want to offend him and tell him he is going the wrong way; I will make him feel bad if we acknowkedge his blindness. Oh, because I am blind my self they say... hmm, not that the Lord has opened My eyes that I may see and help the blind go the right way; the way to the light so they too can see.
It is amazing; now I see what the Lord has said. can the blind lead the blind. because a true christian will not confess such a thing. we all are blind they say, but they use the word sinners; So I can't tell you how to get their because I don't know myself. The life I now live in this flesh is not I, but Christ Jesus who liveth in me and through. where I was hopeless, now I have Hope; destiny. Where there was depression, now is Joy and peace. Where their was death in me unto the Wrath of The Holy God ; now there is love unto enternal life with him. Where there was pain, guilt, shame, and condemnation; it is now healing of my soul, mind, body and spirit, no guilt; because I have been forgiving, and justified, no more shame, because; I have been washed in the righteous Blood of the Lamb of God. My sin nature has been crucified with Christ, though I be dead, yet I live. Oh my God, glory to you I praise you form the gratfulness of my heart.
I don't want to live the life of this world, but that you live your life Lord through me to and before this world. I am not nothing like that person who died with Christ; (the old me/man) I am She/ new creature who rose up with him. Like Apostle Paul; He went down saul with Christ, but rose with Christ Jesus as Paul. Read the Word,,,, Saul sinned,,, Paul never did. who are you now? what is your surname; what do you call yourself? A sinner? or do you call yourself what Jesus call you, Redeemed, Blood Washed, ect,,ect,,, How can something be washed and still be considered dirty? if so, what ever was used to wash it; must not been good enough to do the Job in cleaning it. If we say we gave our lives to Jesus, you will know you truly have, Because he will give you a knew one in return. ask yourself, Is your life truly new,,, Get the answer,, compare yourself to the Word of God, and stop comparing yourself to the word of man. I would be weary if someone asked me to sit and talk about what needs to be prayed for. I mean what is there that cant be conveyed in a few words? I mean I dont need to know every detail about what u ask me to pray for. God knows all the details and doesnt expect us to bore Him with it all. Just the basic issue and the name of the person should suffice.

I think, often, because 'religion' is such a PERSONAL issue to many, its not only HARD to talk about it, possibly because of the contraversy around the subject, but often, when we DO, people think that we're trying to shove our beliefs down their throats!
As far as the prayer thing goes...often, we have our eyes CLOSED to pray where its harder to LOOK someone directly in the eye and voice our beliefs....

I dont close my eyes when i pray all the time in fact i'll usually be looking around. But you are right about looking someone directly in the face that you dont know and trying to tell them about your beliefs is not easy

I'm talking about some long held desire, say to run my own business. Rather than talk to me about my ideas and provide encouragement some people would rather stay out til 3am and then accuse me of ingratitude! I'd just rather have more personal encouragement, that's all.
Well, if you are seeking encouragement, that is different from asking someone to pray for you. Do u mean to say that no one wants to hear your ideas and give u their opinion? Most people would not want to do that because they are not counselors or advisors and may not have the qualifications to know what to tell you.
I once had the same problem when asking my friends if they think I should leave my job, and I wondered why they always just said its up to me. None would give me a real answer. I realize now that they dont want to make the mistake of telling me the wrong thing because if I took their advie and things didnt work out they would feel terrible later. Its the same with your starting a business. Most people will be afraid to encourage you because what if you do it based on their advice and then it ends up being a mistake? That person will feel horrible for encouraging you.
It is times like these when you have to learn all you can to help you in your decision and then trust in God that you are making the right decision or pray for an answer to be revealed to you.

read David and Goliath, goes out and kills goliath with a peeble he got out of the river.please read and meditate on the story of david and goliath, alot of truths in our own walks of life, we have a tendency to magnify our problems yet we should be magnifying God, Israel saw goliath as a giant and themselves as grasshoppers.
