Though she had no sexual relations with the man, she told a girlfriend she was in love with him. When her father found out he threw her down, stood on her neck and started to stab her to death. Her brothers came running to help her, but when their father told them what he found out, they helped him kill her.
That was just one of over 81 women "honor" killed in Basra for the year, by November 2008.

This is certainly anecdotal, but no shortage of folks found this phenomenon caught by the mainstream press cameras, to be intriguing.
