In some earlier blogs, I mentioned the different attitudes between Muslims and Christians toward Calvary and the Bible. However, we do have a lot in common.
Muslims and Christians agree there is only one God. We both believe the Bible was inspired by God. We both believe in a resurrection. Both religions agree there is a heaven and hell.
With so much common ground, it seems odd that so much controversy would arise from these two religions. Why do we hear about so much violence towards Christians from Islamic countries? The reason is the Quran actually commands holy war against non-Muslims who refuse to convert. "Islamic Extremists" is the name we commonly call Muslims who literally interpret the Quran as a legitimate authorization to kill non-Muslims. However, there are many peaceful Muslims so it is important to differentiate between "peaceful Muslims" and "Islamic Extremists."
Dear Lord, We pray You would help Christians to stand firm on the faith even unto death. We pray You would protect Christians living in Islamic countries. Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit to us to love and help us in all things. In Christ's Name, Amen.
