As its close to the fourth of July, I thought that the best way to word the feeling in my heart...or does Jesus believe in fireworks???

Sooooo many churches justify the glam and the glitter by saying that the younger generation will not stay intrigued unless they have so much pomp and ostenteous props in the church service...

So the question becomes...Did Jesus appeal to the senses when seeking followers?

I personally do not think that churches should get 'showy' and 'hip' in order to win disciples for Christ...but it is truly the humble, artless message of Jesus Christ died for our sins, and the life that follows being devoted to him that should be taught...without the videos...without the promises of riches if you tithe..(these are just examples...I do not want to get side-tracked by these issues)...

I think a 'technical' or 'effrontory' Jesus robs Him of his humility, and of his simple truth of deep, fathomless love...how about you???

May the Lord's light always inspire us all and not the glamor of this world
tony

ps...Some of you might say, "How are you going to attract today's youth without pomp?" I do not think Jesus wore the most hip garment to attract the popular and worldly of his day...He wore a seemless garment..plain...and he taught the truth in love and with power...that is what will bring and feed the thirsty hearted forever...

And NOT fireworks!!!!!!!

I am not commenting on the fireworks , but have a comment about a statement you made. ".He wore a seemless garment..plain..." the garment that Jesus wore may have seemed plain , but actually it was a very nice garment . if it was without seams, it was woven as one piece , it was worth some money the very reason the soldiers didn't won't to rip it, but rather cast lots to see which one would claimm it for their own.

Joh 19:23Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.Joh 19:24They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
Maybe there is a message about the fireworks within that thought, it don't alway have to be bright and flashly as fireworks to get the job done, sometimes to plain truth can be worth alot more than the bight lights. Paul said he preached Jesus and Him crucified, so just preached the truth it worked back then it will still work today, A church sign says: we may have changed the method but not the message. But have we not changed the message in today's Churches?????/ Jesus preached on hell as much or more than Heaven!!
