I'm not saying christian men are gamblers, but a lot of men seem to like a flutter even if it's just lotto..they never win though.
One church I know had their building paid off from the proceeds of pokies, as they sometimes give their money away if you apply for a grant.

Pastors are always asking for money.

?
Were they in financial straits. Don't marry a gambler, a lot of men aren't very good with money.
don't know, never talked to him. she seemed that she could be vicious. she was gentle & kind when she met me but i waved to her once & she gave me the cold loo.!

ok, I guess we never know what goes on behind closed doors.
Some churches turn a blind eye to abuse.

There are lots of things we expect churches to do but don't end up happening.
Well when people do not attend small group....

They sit in the big service, smile and nod....MAYBE exchange names....
It's not like people can be psychic and know anything that they haven't been told.

Once went to a small group, was hit on by a guy who already had a girlfriend. And the girlfriend was right there in the group as well.
He didn't just want to know my name. He wanted my phone number as well. I don't think he wanted to talk about the Bible.

Hogwash, typical attitute towards autistics. Im mildly autistic and have a 15 year old. No serious issues with her.

Are you male or female?
I think OPs parents were more concerned that she couldn't look after her child rather than any issues with the child.

But yea it just seems unfair.
My church friend isn't autistic but her eldest son was severe and they had to put him in a residential home when he turned 18. And I think her youngest is mildly autistic because she said he wasn't reaching his milestones.

I don't think her husband is autistic, but I do know they had a daughter that was stillborn. She has 4 sons. The two other sons are fine and one got married.

I'm not sure if its genetics or environment. Temple Grandin didn't have children, but I gather from her voluminous writings about autism that her dad wasn't around much and had a temper. Her parents divorced when she was 15. She was the eldest and her siblings didn't have autism. It might have been her dad was mildly autistic, not sure. Her mother was a socialite musician. They could afford a big family. Temple had a nanny and aunt who helped look after her, otherwise her dad threatened to place her in an institution.

So this is for difficult discussions. Any topic is fine.

So here’s my difficult topic…
I’m autistic. Not bad enough to where I need help but decent enough to be recognized as weird. My parents have always said I should never have kids due to that factor…but it hurts my heart a lot at the thought of if I might not be able to have kids. And I get it I don’t want to curse my kids with severe autism and they not be able to have a good life but I’m also torn like I just want little kids ya know. What do you think?
Hi Sunshine , I don't have autism in my biological family but I do have it in my extended family . My step sisters husband had quite severe Asperger's . He is a very nice young man , however , he is extremely hard work to b around for any length of time . I hate to say this about him because I do like him , I am a bit of a straight talker and I always say what is the truth to me . He also knows that he's hard work and this makes him depressed . He has struggled so much in just about every area of his life . He struggles in every single kind of relationship from family to friends to colleagues . I'm not really able to put across in a typed message just how difficult life is for him . If I'm totally honest , I do worry that one day he might kill himself .
My family has different issues , alcoholism , anorexia and personality disorders . Both my mum and dad were / r narcissistic psycopaths . That's one of the reasons I decided many years ago to not have children .
My dad has two other children to his second wife and they r both ok but like me , because of what they went through with our dad , they have decided not to have children . Sometimes in life we face very big decisions , do I just go for it and hope for the best because it's what I want ? Or do I decide to b cautious and maybe save someone ( and maybe others too , those who might suffer at the hands of my child ) from a potentially awful life ? I chose the later and don't regret it . I married a man who already had five daughters , so I'm a step mum and a step grandma 😁 at least one of my step daughter's has a personality disorder , just like her dad has , and one of my step grandchildren is badly autistic , from his father's side . 🤷 These things r everywhere now and it's good that we r all becoming more aware and tolerant towards people who r not exactly like ourselves . However , I did not want to b responsible for bringing another psycopath into this world and I do know that my step daughter and her husband were / r heartbroken that their little boy is do severally autistic . They worry what his life will b like , especially when they r no longer around to support him . Lots to think about 🙏 lots to pray about .

There was a new cloning study I heard that mammal reproduction causes genetic repair. Through many cycles of cloning they would get genetic defects but in 1-2 generations of breeding would completely repair the defects.
