I tend to believe that when things are going well in my life, it's because I'm following God's plan for me, and, conversely, when things aren't going so well, it's probably because I took a wrong turn somewhere. I know that's not always the case. The book of Job tells us that even when we do everything right, crap still happens. I also know that saying God has "a plan" for me is perhaps a little egotistical. It's not like God has planned out every second of my life, with an agenda and time table, giving me gold stars when I do it right and red exes when I don't. That's just silly.

Yet, in general, while we may hit rough patches along the way, it seems to me that God works all things for good, even if it doesn't seem good at the time.

That's why I'm a little confused, and needing some prayer for discernment right now.

Over the last few years, up until about a year ago, it seemed all the things going on in my life were winding down except one: my family. I have had a lot of different careers and jobs and opportunities, and they all seemed to be drying up slowly. Three years ago I met my husband, right around the time I lost one job, and doors were closing and opening in such a way that it seemed the path I ought to take was to be a Mom, a Wife, etc.

I now have a beautiful baby boy and loyal husband, a fabulous house, more than I could ever hope for. God has truly blessed me. The problem is, all those doors that started closing a few years ago are opening again. All at once. I've received several job offers and opportunities for several different projects, and they're all really amazing opportunities. They're all the sort of thing that look like blessings from God, like God is trying to tell me "hey, you should go this way" with the offer ... only, they're all in different directions. I could take maybe 2 of them, but there's no way I could accept all of the offers. There's only 24 hours in each day, and I still have a son and husband to take care of.

I feel as though if I turn any of them down, I'd be disappointing God, or refusing a wonderful gift from Him. And yet, I have to turn at least some of them down. I guess it's even worse that I feel guilty for being overly-blessed, if that makes sense. In a time when so many people are unemployed or underemployed, what right have I to be upset about having too many opportunities instead of none at all?

If anyone out there has been in a similar situation, I would love to hear any advice you may have.

May God bless you all.

Ill just share what I learned from Jesus and scripture. :)
Its not so much what we choose to do, it is knowing that whatever choice we make, that Jesus is with us where ever we walk.
The Scripture that helped me is.
:Man may determine his course, but God determines his steps. :
Sorry I cannot quote chapter and verce #.
Ill be praying in Jesus for you.
I sure you will make the best choice! :)

This was just set on my mind for you in Jesus.
In making your choices, look to your hearts desire and choose what will help this in your choices.

Never feel guilty for your blessings :)

It pleases our Creator to give us good things and see us enjoy them. I think we 'bless' Him when we're grateful and make the most of these blessings...probably by sharing them in some way.

I think being a mom and a wife is a career in itself. Your 'home' runs on you...you're the center of it and set the mood for family life. Your husband is of course a major part of it but I think the mom is the one that 'keeps the hearth fires burning'. It's a big responsibility.

That doesn't mean that you can't do anything else. By no means. I think every stay-at-home mom should have some outside interests to keep her sane. But in moderation.

It's all about setting priorities, which families need to figure out for themselves. Do ask your husband's advice. They love that :)

Something very similar happened to me right after I got married. Suddenly all these doors started opening and I was confused on what to do.

I'm one of those strong independent women that totally doesn't need a man (finger wag/head swivel), so submitting to my hubs and asking for his input is really counterintuitive for me. But that's exactly what I needed to do in order to gain some clarity and do what was right for my family.

The shower of blessings didn't come after my wedding... the marriage is part of it. Lucy is right. I think your family may have the answers you need.

Thank you for the prayers and kind words. I absolutely have been talking to my husband, and would never make a decision without him. He is so amazingly supportive. And I think you're right that God is not necessarily telling me which of these things to do, but that He will be there with me, no matter what I choose.

And of course, family is a given. That one isn't even a choice! :) Love it, the good and the bad!
