well, if you follow the link to the pew forum statistics, they have catholics, mormons and jehovah's witnesses in their 78% of america identifies as christian (and read their bibles).
make of that what you will.

well, if those 3 are considered cults and not christian, that puts the number of bible reading christians down below 50%.
that's assuming they're answering the poll truthfully.

Catholics are considered Christians but I would add the Seven Day Adventist to the list to make it 3.

one thing i glean from this study is that the doctrine of inspiration cannot replace the doctrine of inerrancy...the increasingly popular and often evangelical sounding view that the bible is 'inspired but not inerrant' seems to lead to a decreased respect for the bible...in spite of what promoters of that view say about their esteem for the bible...
