Recently I've been struggling with who I am, trying to figure out if I live a horrible and godless life and will end up in hell for it. l would like to know what this community thinks and would like any advice it can give me. Ill tell you all my lifestyle and how I live so you can make an opinion.

I live a lazy and laid back life. I don't actually attend a school but take online classes. This means I can sleep all day and be awake all night, which I usually do. I have a job but it doesn't really require me to do much work. Any money I make I get I usually give to my mom. She has to support a family on her own so I try and help out. I also usually clean the house I live in with my family up while everyone is at school and work. On Sundays I don't go to church, I don't feel good about that, but I'd like to get back into church going. During the day God and Jesus are on my mind. I do speak to God, usually apologizing to him and Jesus whenever I do something considered sinful and wrong. I don't get on my knees and pray daily although I do it now and again, I usually try and repent when I do.

I play video games, a lot. Sometimes it's just online games other times it's video games on my DS or PS2. I play a lot of Fantasy games, the kind with turned based battles and that kind of stuff. I also play the more mature and violent stuff, like Evil dead and Metal gear Solid. I do play the games that require killing people, although I never considered playing games with killing in it was wrong.

That's another subject entirely, but just to let anyone who's curious as to why, I don't think it's wrong because it's not actually killing. It's just data and data isn't alive, thus it can't be killed.

I spend a lot of time on the internet, posting on forums and watching things like movie and game reviews.

Alright, I think I've covered enough.

Thoughts?

I would say you are a normal teenager. Don't be so hard on yourself. If you have accepted Christ as your Saviour you won't go to hell.

Agreed, except their comes a price at accpeting Jesus as your savior. We are told that we must repent from our sins, and when we repent, we must change our ways. We can't just accept Jesus and than go back to our old ways. Being a christian, is a HARD thing.

You're only 16, so i think what's you're doing is fairly normal. To your credit, you are earning and paying your way, making yourself useful around the house, as well as seeking an education.

Ideally, I believe it's healthier to be up during the day and sleeping at night, but I'm sure that will come in due course when you're older and have the routine of a normal working day.

As for Metal Gear Solid, excellent choice, old bean.

Yeaaah, violent games may just be data, but it actually makes you more aggressive. I know this because when I would play Tekken and zombie games, I would later have these aggressive reactions toward people. Heh.

Seek first the kingdom of God and all things will be added unto you. He who seeks the truth shall know the fear of the LORD.

Ditto what cako said. If you feel a pulling/calling, follow it. Maybe you will find it to be much more rewarding?

Im sorry I cant agree with that statement..
Your writing this to us because you think something is missing and your feeling overwhelmed that your spiritual life is missing something and going to the dumps. Your instinct is right. You are not a bad person, and I think its great that you make the effort to help your mom out (not many teens do that). You want to go yet you dont go. What is stopping you from going? Are you afraid that cos youve not gone in a while that you will be judged by others in your age group as a backslider or something? It will be hard at first but give it a go. Your giving examples of your lifestyle becasue you feel your heading down the wrong path but are overwhelmed at what to do about and maybe even possibly guilty that it gives you pleasure in the short term. But youve given yourself the answer already - church.

Church and youthgroup isnt just about reading the bible and hearing a sermon. Church is also fellowship where people help others by building them up to be more like Christ. And its also about serving. When you serve in your church your short term pleasures slowly become pointless and wasteful of the precious time God has given you. You play killing games because they reinforce the fact that you have a use. You are needed, appreciated, you have a job to do but this is all fake and you know it. Those feelings are only short term and so you go back for more hence why gaming is addictive. When you serve and are proactive in a church environment where you are supported those good feelings of growth, usefulness, and productivity are achieved long term and the benefit is long term and hugely positive.
You admitting that your 'lazy' (I prefer the phrase 'lacking drive') shows that you yearn for a better kind of productivity.

Sounds like your a bit lonely as well and as lovely as we all are here on CC here, we will never be able to provide you with the physical socialisation that you need - again - youth group does that. When you do make that step and go to church ask around for the youth pastor and seek him/her out and ask to privately talk to them about your wee predicament and your worries. That way when they invite you to a youthgroup you will be supported appropriately and will feel welcome because they made the effort to involve you because they met you first and you arent strangers to each others and they can also introduce you to others.

I hope this was helpful to oyu and I wasnt too blunt..
God bless and Goodluck!

I think you are doing O.K., at 16yrs many of us were a lot further off the rails and managed to find our way back to something better.

I think the most important thing you need to remember is to keep doing what you are doing, in the sense of looking at your life and asking yourself these questions, the worst people are often those who never think or look back on their attitudes and behaviours and that's why they continue to make mistakes, they never hold themselves to account and try to do better, you are doing that and it counts for a lot and in the end it will make the difference.

I do think you should try and get off of your nocturnal hours, if you're awake while the world is alseep your going to find it harder to make changes.

As for the computer games I wouldn't worry, you know I love running around a spaceship with a lightsaber taking care of business, it doesn't mean your a bad person.
If you feel you use the computer too much try and make it your reward for good deeds done, try and make yourself earn your time relaxing by using it as an incentive to do more things you might not ordinarily do, everybody else wil gain and so will you.

The fact that you realized that it's really good. Now I want you to know that with God is possible to change your life style and to be forgiven of your sins. Since there is repentace in us he is ready to forgive us and to save us. I used to live a life that was not so different than yours, but since I invited Jesus to be my Saviour he gave me the strenght to change it completely!

If you have accepted Jesus as your saviour then you WILL HAVE A DEFENDER when you die. Thank Jesus, you are never going to end up in any hell.
Do not spend every day thinking you "go to hell". Just read your bible and thank Jesus for His presence in your life! Even if you would never do anything
and just lay in your bed all day, Jesus will defend you!

During the day God and Jesus are on my mind. I do speak to God, usually apologizing to him and Jesus whenever I do something considered sinful and wrong. I don't get on my knees and pray daily although I do it now and again, I usually try and repent when I do.
You show repentance in front of God and you love Jesus, he is your Saviour. NEVER worry of not kneeling or crossing your palms or whatever. It's just nonsense compared to the great things you said you DO practice ... never give up on Jesus!

On Sundays I don't go to church, I don't feel good about that, but I'd like to get back into church going.
It's very important to be in a Christian fellowship BUT -going to church- is not what's important. What's in your heart is important. Many men go to church and even give sermons, then go back home beating their wives - being painted white at the church, they show their black heart while inside four walls.

Christianity is in the heart, not in habits.

And FirePanther, what do you think is wrong with this christian here? How should he "show repentance" more than he already does?
