2 Kings 4 v 4-6: "Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars and as each is filled, put it to one side". She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.
When we have nothing left and are completely empty, it is definitely time to ask God to fill us to the brim again and again. Shutting the door behind you - she shut out the world, its problems, its difficulties, its unbelief, the world had nothing else to offer her except death.
(But ironically afterwards she would have had something to offer the world back, oil to spare following her own filling up).
God was her last resort she was desperate and at the end of her own resources. How often do we make God our last resort instead of our first resort. But even if He is our last resort He still answers He will not turn us away.
.........
2 Kings 4 v 21 She went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, then shut the door and went out (to find Elisha). v 33 He went in, shut the door on the two of them and prayed to the Lord.
Her son was dead she did not tell anyone and went instead to get Elisha straight away, knowing he was a man of God. This time God was her first resort and she was quick to shut the door on the world, quick to shut the door on unbelief - she learned the lesson from her first encounter.
