As bad as this may sound, I am passionate about proving people wrong. lol
What I mean by that is, I do not like being told I can't do something. That I am not capable, or it feasable etc.
I guess in a way, it drives me. Also, injustice drives me.
Oh my goodness I can so understand this sentiment.
At my pregrad celebration everyone in my year was given an award. Someone got "Best Clothes" or "Prettiest Smile" or "Genuis", you know what I got?
"Most Persevering Stubborn Student"
My pediatritian told my mother I was developmentally delayed (in language skills) because I didnt learn to talk til I was 5.
My primary school teacher told my mother I was mentally retarded and told her to put me in a special needs classroom.
When I was 14, God told me to me an occupational therapist, EVERY highschool science teacher laughed me.
When I was 17 I failed my Junior exams and had to repeat a year, you know what I did? The following year I completed my junior and senior years in one year and got university scholarship.
At 18 I entered my OT degree with absolutely no highschool experience (nor decent understanding) of physics, biomechanics, biology and chemistry. I passed every single paper then went back to my old highschool science teacher and laughed at HER.
Ive been encouraged to drop out of my degree THREE times. Every time they accuse me of something, I appeal and win every time. I think Ive become the bane of their existence.
Ive finished all my academic papers and have ONE placement to go til I graduate and register as an occupational therapist.
Because of the earthquake that occured here my placement has been put back 6 months.
Oh trust me, Ive dealt with a lot of depression and anxiety over people telling me Im not worth it or I shouldnt bother, but Ive also seen how God has helped me jump over every hurdle people place in front of me. I can't help but be proud knowing my stubborness comes and is fed from God.
What you passionate about? What drives you and why?
Im passionate about History and the people who made History. I love to learn about the fall and rise of civilizations. The drive of the people who created these ancient citys and how sometimes total madness was what created the biggest empires we have ever known.
Im also very passionate about writers. Not so much about the storys they write, but about their life, what drove them to write what they did. A lot of poets have fascinating lives, while some were sick and twisted individuals, others were total genius. Edgar allan Poe married his cousin. Lord Byron was a bisexual who was in love with his half sister. Ernest Hemingway was a depressed recluse, John keats was obsessed with a woman he couldnt have.
Without them though we would be at a great loss for some of the best writing in history.
This is an exert from a poem Lord George Byron wrote for his sister: For you my own sweet sister, in your heart i know my own self secure as you are in mine. We were, and are, I am even as you are Beings who never each other can resign, It is the same together or apart. From lifes commencement to its slow decline we are entwined. Let death come slow or fast, the tie which bound the first endures the last.
