All scripture verses posted are from the Amplified Bible. All brackets [ ] that are placed by AMP Bible translators. They read, write, teach & diagram Greek to English. Find here:
Bible Gateway passage: 1 Corinthians 3 - Amplified Bible

(The NOTES are mine & put in parentheses ( )

Both God/Holy Spirit inspired Corinthians epistles are written by the Apostle Paul & addressed to believers. See 1 Cor 1:2 & 2 Cor 1:2

2 Cor 3 Translators headline: Ministers of a New Covenant

2 Cor 3:
3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

4 Such is the confidence and steadfast reliance and absolute trust that we have through Christ toward God.

5 Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God.

6 He has qualified us [making us sufficient] as ministers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not of the letter [of a written code] but of the Spirit; for the letter [of the Law] kills [by revealing sin and demanding obedience], but the Spirit gives life.

(MY NOTE: Headline, believers are: Ministers of a NEW Covenant. Vs 3, The believer is delivered from sin & death, via the NT Holy Spirit. Received by faith placed in Christ & written on their heart. Not received thru self-works required in the OT law covenant. Vs 4, The believers salvation confidence toward the Father is accessed & maintained by faith in Christ. Vs5, salvations qualifications don't derive from any wonderful self'-works. They come from God thru Faith in Christ. Vs 6, The believers sufficiency before the Father isn't achieved/accessed thru any self-works performed. The believers sufficiency/salvation/eternal life is a gracious God given gift. Received/accessed thru faith in Christ's sin atoning work. See Rom 5:1-2)

(2 Cor, Christ's eternally indwelling Holy Spirit, the judgement seat of Christ & the believers report card)

2 Cor 5:5 Now He who has made us and prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the [Holy] Spirit as a pledge [a guarantee, a down payment on the fulfillment of His promise].

2 Cor 5:10 For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the [a]judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives—the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities].

(MY NOTE: Vs 5, The free gift (Jn 3:16, Acts 10:45, 11:17) of Christ's indwelling Holy Spirit that's given to every believer. Is God's seal (2 Cor 1:22, 5:5, 2 Tim 1:14, Eph 4:30) God's down payment promise/pledge, His eternal life guarantee/gift (Rom 6:23, Jn 5:24) ! Vs 10, every believer will stand before the judgement seat of Christ (this isn't the Rev 20:11 white throne). At the judgement seat of Christ the believer's works will be graded. Not their salvation it's already a finished work completed by the Lord.

(REWARDS: gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw)

1 Cor 3:
11 for no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ.

12 But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,

13 each one’s work will be clearly shown [for what it is]; for the day [of judgment] will disclose it, because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality and character and worth of each person’s work.

14 If any person’s work which he has built [on this foundation, that is, any outcome of his effort] remains [and survives this test], he will receive a reward.

15 But if any person’s work is burned up [by the test], he will suffer the loss [of his reward]; yet he himself will be saved, but only as [one who has barely escaped] through fire.

16 [d]Do you not know and understand that you [the church] are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells [permanently] in you [collectively and individually]?

(MY NOTE: Vs 11, Christ is the only true foundation. Vs 12, All work done in His name receives a grade. Vs 13, Each grade receives a payment (also see Fire definition below). Vs 14, Every grade receives a, positive = gold, silver, precious stone or negative = wood, hay, straw, test score. Vs 15, positive test grades receive a reward, negative test scores forfeit rewards, MOST notably either way the believers salvation remains in tact. Vs 16, reaffirms negative scores = wood, hay, straw, no works = dead works don't remove the believers eternal life/salvation promised guarantee!

(The White Throne judgment)

The people at the White Throne Judgment have rejected Christ's, redemptive sin atonement (all will be invited Jn 12:32). Having no cover/cloak for their sins (Jn 15:22) they are judged without mercy according to every jot & tittle of the Law (Deut 28:14-60).

Everything they've ever done or said, has been "RECORDED". Every idle word ever spoken, is judged. End result, eternal separation from Creator God (2 Thes 1:9).
