They are one flesh. Agreed. The husband and wife are to be so close they are like they're fused together...one flesh.
They do fuse in the consummation of the marriage, it's is interesting how all of it goes by the near eastern cultures way they do marriages. Like how Abraham sent his servant to find Isaac's wife, the Father elects the bride of Christ, the groom starts adding on to the fathers house for him and his bride, but he can't go get his bride until the father says go, then the son goes a snatches his bride, her parents only now because she's gone. Then the servants would go out and call the invited guests to come to the feast. Jesus does not know the time or the hour only the Father knows. When they marry there is a big wedding feast, like the marriage supper of the Lamb.

But the question I have to ask is this what happens when the husband refuses to Work and be a provider?
I just want to list scriptures that deal with that subject matter. You meditate on the scriptures, pray and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you.

If the husband is able bodied (without physical disability), but simply REFUSES to work that’s sin (laziness). How do we know that a man’s refusal to work and support his family is sin?

  1. Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, HAS DENIED THE FAITH AND IS WORSE THAN AN UNBELIEVER. 1 Tim 5:8

  1. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat." 2 Thes 3:10

  2. A person who doesn’t work hard is just like someone who destroys things [a brother to a destroyer]. Pro 18:9 And we know who the destroyer is - The THIEF comes only to steal and kill and destroy. John 10:10a

So, how does the Bible say that a wife should deal with a husband who disobeys the word of God?

  1. 1Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Pe 3:1-4

Remember, wifely submission has absolutely nothing to do with ENABLING a husband’s sin. As Christians, we are not to partake in or enable another person’s sin. As Christians, we are suppose to RESTORE one another.

Paul said that “ALL SCRIPTURE is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” ( 2 Tim 3:16). Therefore, we aren’t limited to the so-called wifely submission verses; you have the rest of scripture (whole counsel of God) to glean from too.

With that being said, what does the Bible teach about dealing with a brother (or sister) who sins against you? And make no mistake, if both spouses are believers, the husband and wife are brother and sister in Christ.

  1. “If your brother or sister sins, GO AND POINT OUT THEIR FAULT, JUST BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16But if they will not listen, TAKE ONE OR TWO OTHERS ALONG, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’d 17 If they still refuse to listen, TELL IT TO THE CHURCH; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector. Mat 18:15

  1. Dear brothers, if a Christian is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should GENTLY and HUMBLY help him back onto the right path, remembering that next time it might be one of you who is in the wrong. Gal 6:1

  1. Watch yourselves. If your brother sins, REBUKE him; and if he repents, FORGIVE him. Luke 17:3

  1. My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. James 5:19

  1. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, WARN THOSE WHO ARE IDLE and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 1 Thes 5:14

  1. 10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.14 Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. 15 Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer. 2 Thes 3:10-15
