Time; not a foundation.
Simmering over fire
diffusing away.
Occupying each breath with a thought of a deserving future,
really just thinning reality; awakening despair.
Each stop with high expectations,
diddling on with memories of a ground in reach,
but really, just a welcome by a pit of leeches.
Take each thought captive,
live on your knees
because life, in the tick of a clock,
will one day prove that your arrogance
is a sinister disease.
