It had been a long day. The sky had actually gone dark for three hours. The flesh was torn from Him, and He was abandoned on a hill between two criminals. He had just gone through, to say the least, the bad day to end all bad days. Yet in this bad day, He finished what He had set out to accomplish. He had been unjustly condemned to death. He had been mocked, beaten, spat upon, crowned with thorns, made to carry the burden of the device to be used to end His life, but He walked that road set before Him.

For thirty three years He had walked the earth, and for the last three and one half years, He
gave Himself. He healed the sick. He raised the dead. He cast out demons. He told people who were far away from God that God loved them in spite of their sin, and was calling them back to Himself. Some said He was a false prophet. Some said He was Elijah returned. Some said He was that one like Moses spoken of in Deuteronomy 18:15-20. Still others said that He was the promised Messiah, and they called Him son of David. A few even recognized... that He was THE Son of God. At the end of His earthly ministry, most had rejected Him. He did not fit in with their plans. Worse, they feared He would lead to a crackdown by the ruling Roman government. They decided that for the good of their own little areas of authority, and perhaps even for the good of the people, He had to die. At the end of a tiring and burdensome three and one half years, years in which He poured out His life in service to the humanity He loved, The humanity He loved decided... to kill Him.

So often life seems like that walk to Golgotha. The abuse, the physical, mental & emotional beating we can often take in this life can seem like a pointless, unfulfilling walk to a cross. If today has been a day like that day for you, or even if life has been in a season of days like that, don't give up. Finish this day, even if you are not sure about the task at hand. Remember that just as Jesus victoriously rose from that grave, you will rise from whatever this season in life is burdening you with. Finish this day the task you have been given this day, & at the end of this day you can say with Jesus “Tetelestai”, IT IS FINISHED!! God bless you :)
