He was a horrible, abusive, hateful, man. It's hard for me to feel anything for him. However, I do feel bad for the family members who left the church, because they are not allowed to visit him.
Hopefully Fred's death will slow the church down quite a bit. All the children who grow up in the church are abused and brainwashed. It's disgusting.

I'll be praying for him. I definitely do not agree with the guy but it would be very nice if he came to repentance before his time comes.
Why was he excommunicated? Can you find info on that? I am not able to.
I also do pray God has mercy on him. I know that he created such evil, and spread hate to so many, but at the end of his life I pray that he finds repentance.
He may have screwed up in this life, but he doesn't have to screw up the next. Praying he truly finds God, repents, and is born again before he passes.

It was VERY disingenuous of the mainstream liberal media to run around after Fred Phelps and his tiny assembly of 40 people attempting to extrapolate everything he and they did as an accurate portrayal of Christianity to the public.
This was VERY deceitful and VERY disingenuous of the mainstream liberal media to engage in that behavior. The behavior was more in line with seventh grade juvenile delinquents than the "fourth estate."

Yes, I am very intrigued about this too. The only info was a facebook post by his son (also an ex-communicated member). He said his father was ex-communicated last August.
To me this was more shocking, than an old man dying.
I really don't want to speculate why, but in a church like that it could be as mundane as using the wrong brand of toothpaste.
You're probably right on that one. There is no telling why they kicked him out. I was just curious. I guess I was hoping he finally found the truth.
We may never know. It was proberbly just a good old fashioned power struggle which saw him loosing his position as head of church etc.

There was a dispute between his daughter Shirly and the council of Elders. The council of Elders won. After that Fred advocated that Church members treat each other with more kindness. He was then excommunicated from his own church that he heads up.
