This avatar is very convicting because of the light of truth it reveals to the heart of the believer who has has received benefit of God's goodness in their life. Do we make these (grace, mercy and forgiveness) conditional or are they given freely by the hand of God to guilty people? All three terms have to do with guilty people and not the righteous. Jesus said in (Mk 2:17, Lk 5:32) that He came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance. He did not come to condemn or judge but to seek and save lost sinners (Lk 19:10, Jn 12:47). He came to be gracious, to be merciful and to forgive sinners and shed His blood and bore the sins of the world on His body on the cross.

1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation (mercy seat) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world.

1Jn 4:9-11 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

How are we to love one another? With grace, mercy and forgiveness unconditionally.

EVERY SIN OF MAN THAT WAS BORN INTO THIS WORLD HAS BEEN PAID FOR AND JUDGED BY CHRIST ON THE CROSS. NOT ONE PERSON WILL BE JUDGED TO THE LAKE OF FIRE BECAUSE OF ANY UNPAID SIN. THEY WILL BE JUDGED BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT FORGIVEN OR CLEANSED OF THEIR SIN, SO THEY WILL DIE IN THEIR SIN BEING NOT CLEANSED FROM IT AS A WORKER OF INIQUITY. Anyone that is not cleansed of sin by the blood of Christ is a worker of iniquity.

He did not come to judge but His words that He has spoken will judge in the last days (Jn 12:48). The gospel of Jesus Christ who was sent for the propitiation of sins, is the gospel of grace, mercy and forgiveness from God through our Lord Jesus Christ and when man believes in his heart upon the Son they are unconditionally and freely given to the sinner by faith.

You miss the essence of the gospel and the fruit of the spirit:

Jonah 3:9
Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we
perish not?

Luke 13:3
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Luke 13:5
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance.

how did you come to believe DA?

Acts 13:48
When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

While I do believe in Eternal Security, I do not believe it is unconditional. If it were, then there would have no reason for Jesus to have come to earth to die for our sins. The penalty for sin was and still is death. While it is true that Jesus did come to this earth to give His life to pay this debt in our stead, in order to benefit from the work of Christ on the cross one must have faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross that still inspires the work of the Holy Spirit, the indwelling Christ, in mens hearts today.

So how is it that a person comes to faith? Faith too is a gift from God. We receive faith by surrendering to the work of the Holy Spirit when we are convicted either by reading or hearing the word of God for "a humble heart and a contrite spirit the Lord does not despise". Please understand, man can do nothing to save himself however, a humble heart and a contrite spirit is the very essence of saving faith. Not only is it the fruit that the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives, it is the very definition of repentance. Thus I believe that a humble heart and a contrite spirit are necessities or the evidences of salvation, the proof that the gift of salvation has been truly received.

Many who proclaim that salvation is unconditional also believe that "no sin can separate you from the love of God". Many believe that once you are saved you are automatically forgiven for every past and every future sin that you might possibly commit and, in doing so, they feel that true repentance (ie. a humble heart and a contrite spirit) is no longer necessary. Their once humbled hearts are hardened with religious pride and self righteousness thus they soon find themselves enslaved to sin once again without any remorse what so ever. Because of religious pride and self righteousness, they now ignore the convictions of the Holy Spirit to turn away from their sinful ways that now have them in bondage once again and return to the grace which freed them in the first place. However, because they now refuse to humble themselves due to their own religious pride and self righteousness, the Holy Spirit turns them over to a reprobate mind. In essence, their religious pride and self righteousness has turned them into the modern equivalent of a pharisee.

Whether these people are now backsliden or were never saved in the first place, is hard for man to say. However, it is evident that they have now placed their faith in religious pride because they no longer possess any of the fruits / evidences of salvation listed in scripture, proof that Christ truly lives within them.

This is why I believe salvation is "conditional". It is not because I believe man can do anything to save himself, but that real salvation will not only change your heart but your life also. True repentance is not a "work" per say and should never be considered something that man does to save himself. True repentance is the consequence / evidence of saving faith, the fruit of the Spirit of the living God at work in our lives.

The area in blue is where you make this presumption about believers and the grace of God. David asked the Lord to keep him back from presumptuous sins and to not let them have dominion over him, to be able to walk upright and be innocent from the great transgression (Ps 19:13). Adam presumed against what God had told him concerning what kind of knowledge not to eat and ended up in the great transgression. You and others continue to presume against those that freely receive the grace and mercy of God for their sin, when God has provided it for that very reason. You are calling God's eternal unconditional redemption and salvation a farce and fraudulent based upon a presumption against the goodness of God that is directed toward sinners. Mercy and grace is for sinners and not for the righteous.

Sin keeps the believer from having fellowship with God. That is why we are to confess our sin so that we can be forgiven and be given grace and go on by faith just as if we had never sinned. You might not like a believer walking by faith in that kind of grace but it is the kind of grace that God gives us so that we do not continue in sin.

Yes he gives us strength so we can forgive. He gives us love so we can love people we don't even like. We can pray for people who hate us. He is great.

Any "gospel" that gives allowances for sin is a false gospel. The blood of Jesus Christ washes away our past sin and the indwelling Holy Spirit is given to us to lead us into victory over our sinful desires and selfishness. Does God gives us grace when we stumble and fall? Absolutely, when we humble ourselves and repent of our selfishness.

Romans chapters 6-8 and 1 John chapters 1-3 are clear on this issue.

Anyways, I'm going to refrain from posting seeing as I have Red33 on ignore. I'm not here to debate. Just wanted to give those who might be reading this thread another perspective.
