FRIEND TO THE FRIENDLESS
Coral Gathman Cook
A friend to the friendless please let me be
One who the beauty of God's love can see
In another whose life is twisted and torn
A life wretched, pathetic, sad and forlorn
I want to love those who know no love at all
To reach out and touch them and teach them to call
On Christ's saving grace and to trust in His love
To prepare them for Heaven, for life up above
I don't want to hurt those whom I know
Rather I want my life to show
How much love the Lord has for us all
How quickly He'll answer His children who call
Teach me dear Lord to love everyone
In this I ask make me more like your Son
I desire that I might be more like Him
That in my life others might His likeness see
