Jeremiah 31:22 The NIV says a woman will surround a man. The Message Bible interprets it as the woman will embrace GOD. What does this verse reall mean? Who is the woma and who is the man?

Here is the hebrew word for 'new' in this verse;

חדשׁ
châdash
khaw-dash'
A primitive root; to be new; causatively to rebuild: - renew, repair.


The backsliding daughter is Israel, and the renewed thing that YHVH is bringing is the woman back to the man(husband which is YHVH) and she will embrace Him once again.
