A life without God first serves no purpose and is void of any true meaning; this life is just temporary and pointless if we do not seek out His will for our life. In every aspect of our being, let us make God the focal point and the absolute authority over our thought life and actions every single day – not just some days or when we feel like it. The real key to walking in the spirit is by being disciplined in every circumstance. If we can master our flesh, then we can really lock our eyes on the true living God without distraction, God first.
I ask myself this question: what is worse someone who does nothing for the kingdom of God because they do not believe in God, or someone who does, yet makes no real effort to seek Him. The first person is blind and has an excuse, but the latter is without justification. Truly, we are behaving just like the non-believers and even worse setting a poor example of our Lord. So, what will God think of us in the day of judgement? Will he say well done good and faithful servant or will he see that we wasted our potential? I for me do not want to be this person nor do I want to waste my life. So, to avoid this path, God First.
Let our heart sing out and let us always press towards God’s will because can we never be truly fulfilled without putting God at the center of our life—in every choice, thought, and feeling it should all be filtered through the Holy Spirit and the word of God. That is right, let every thought be taken captive and let the holy spirit process it and decide what can or cannot enter into our presence. Obviously with this world, this is easier said than done, but let us strive for our best and always fall forward when we make mistakes.
God first doesn’t mean being perfect it means in every step we take the first thought we have is – what does God think about what I am doing? We don’t gravitate towards our emotions or desires, but, instead being able to ignore those and just obey God. God first requires both faith and trust that our creator knows what is best for us. If we have trust issues we shouldn’t be ashamed, just acknowledge it and ask God to help us to grow our faith each and every day.
God first doesn't happen over night and likely we will never say -- I have master that, but it is a life long commitment just like a marriage. Above all remember one thing -- God loves us and knows what is best for us and that is why He wants to be our father, our friend, our helper, and our everything.
