Look folks, you all can think, I am the meanest person that ever walked the face of this earth I don't care. it is not about me and it is not about you. God has bailed us out of hell itself and He expects us to :
Ro 12:1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.Ro 12:2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
our reasonable service to serve Him, our reasonable service to be Holy, For God is Holy and we can skip through this life that God has given us, on fire for Him, luke warm or even Cold and Jesus Himself said that He could rather us be cold than to be luke warm.
three people I want to talk about Moses, Uzzah and King Herod. Moses was kept out of the earthly promised land because of one small detail :
Nu 20:6And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.Nu 20:7And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,Nu 20:8Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.Nu 20:9And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.Nu 20:10And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?Nu 20:11And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.Nu 20:12And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.
God said the speak to the rock, moses tapped the rock.
Uzzah, God said not to touch the ark least ye die, Uzzah even though he thought he was doing good by keeping the ark from turning over, touched the ark and He died :
2sa 6:5And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.2sa 6:6And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.2sa 6:7And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
Well preacher this is old testament, God don't work that way anymore, well let's look at the new testament then. Oh I forgot about Ananias and his wife :
Ac 5:3But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?Ac 5:4Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.Ac 5:5And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.Ac 5:6And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
Ac 5:7And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.Ac 5:8And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.Ac 5:9Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.Ac 5:10Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
Now King Herod :
Ac 12:21And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.Ac 12:22And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.Ac 12:23And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
we can find three things in this scriptures that really displeases God, one Moses did it His way not the way God told him to do it, Uzzah and Ananias and His wife, Didn't listen to God , but went ahead and did what God told them not to do, and King herod took the Glory for himself. lets examine our own walk with God against these three things, do we know what God has told us in His scriptures, are we following every little detail, are we giving God the Glory for the thing we accomplished Through His instructions. It was not a laughing matter when God died for our sins and now our life we live for him should not be a laughing matter either, so do we keep telling all the old hard nose preachers to ease up a bit or do we ourselves put our nose to the grindstone for God, it's your call, but remember Jesus put His nose to the grindstone for us, does He deserve any less from us???
