So I've been smoking weed and cigarettes since I was 13 years old ( I know I know not that long but its not any easier either!), I'm 19 now and was saved a little over a year ago and wanted to quit smoking cigarettes ever since then but I never truly gave up the wheel in order for the Lord to guide my life.
But just a few weeks ago I surrendered my life to God by daily prayer and reading his word and just turning to him with every need I had, I put my trust in him and one day I just stopped smoking cigarettes and weed, of course its still hard but without the Lord I would say to myself " oh what's it going to hurt just this one time?" But because Jesus Christ lives in me I can say NO! :)
Its a lot easier when He is on your side <3! Also I must admit that a day or two ago I gave in to just one hit of marijuana, but once I did it I regretted it so much realizing what it did to me how it made me act, I felt like a fool and said to my friends " I wish I could unhigh myself, I realize how stupid I act when I smoke."
So Praise God for that! I've overcome even after I gave in to the temptation I overcame! Thank you Lord <3

I manage a homeless shelter...I hear this daily. Very few ever actually fully STOP. You have an advantage..the Holy SPIRIT and the gumption to end it. Seek good holy annointed BIBLE drenched advice and start attending a holy spirit filled church to seal the deal. THis kind of past addiction will never be healed in a dark confessional booth. I praise GOD for your salvation. Why not use your past as a testimony to help future kids NOT continue to smoking? You have the inside details, the guts to do it and the willpower....with JESUS as your guide.

Hi GGO it's good that you are able to admit your struggles. I think pwrn
has given you some great advice. Praise God for your testimony, :)

I totally agree with your point. Sometimes people will give great testimonies about how God has helped them overcome the very issues they've been struggling with. The problem is that they turn into the same things they had been practicing. Well, there are some who get delivered by God instantly after crying out to Him. In most cases, the deliverance will come gradually as addicted individuals are willing to yield themselves to God on a daily basis.

Praise the Lord! May He continue to help you and give you His light every day!

Praise God! He gives us victory. It isn't easy to quit smoking for sure. It has been 13 years for me smoke free thanks to Gods mercy. A scripture that kept me accountable every time I wanted to give in and have that "just one more" was this:

1 Corinthians 6:19-2019 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
