You should be careful what you pray for because you may get it. Some pray for patience.

do you know how you gain patience? well here are the scripture verses:

James 1:2-5
New King James Version (NKJV)

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Patience is produced by trials and testing of your faith. therefore if you pray for patience and your trials only increase, know that you asked for it. I would suggest you pray for mercy and for God's will to be done not yours for His plan is more loving and burden lighter then anything you could conceive on your own.

Some pray for material wealth and prosperity. Do you know the scripture verses God gives in response to such prayers?

James 4:3-5
New King James Version (NKJV)
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and[a] adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?

therefore would you have worldly prosperity and enmity to God or God's blessing and love?

God grants prayers more often then people realize, they just do not recognize that the troubles they are enduring is due to their prayers and wishes being granted.

Learn if you are able from the example of Israel who rejected God as their king and would have a fleshly king to rule over them. For their rejection, see how God grants their prayers.

1 Samuel 8

6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the LORD. 7 And the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. 8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. 9 Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”
10 So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king. 11 And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. 12 He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. 14 And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. 16 And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men,[a] and your donkeys, and put them to his work. 17 He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. 18 And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that day.”
19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us, 20 that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”
21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the LORD. 22 So the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed their voice, and make them a king.”
so if you cry out to the Lord, does He hear you?

or have you asked for an Earthly king or material things to spend upon your own lusts?

Do you truly know what it means to have the blessing of God be upon your life?

Good post Anandahya, we are called to set our requests before the God in Jesus's name with praise and thanksgiving.
When one trusts and rests in Jesus, the prayer is not so much about one wants, but simply praising God knowing that all needed is provided with perfect love and care.
For who understands better ones needs than God Our Father! :)

I like your post, my mom always said as well, be careful what you pray for, for God will provide!!! :)

God bless

I pray for all my brothers to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. And with patience I do wait for my Lord to deliver.
