And I agree, the mortal body will not inherit eternity but the soul will as it is immortal.
Since when is the soul immortal? Scripture says God and God Alone is immortal.

Of the 4 words translated hell in the kjv, only 2 are describing hell. Sheol and hades are death, the grave, the abode of the dead, etc. taratus is used once and means prison, place of gloom, sadness, etc., then Gehenna was a trash dump, where carcussus of criminals were thrown, which is referenced by both jesus(using the word) and isssaiah(see Isaiah 66:24) to describe the lake of fire. And joshhuntim, what you are missing is these verses:

doesnt matthew 10:28 say we are immortal except in the case of god(as nothing but god can kill the soul)?

Ah, no it does not. It says nothing about the soul being immortal. All it says is to fear God and not man.

everlasting punishment This idea contradicts that God is fair
ALTER2EGO -to- ABAIR:
Literal eternal hellfire torment is not supported by scriptures in God's inspired Word, the Judeo-Christian Bible. The Bible presents two eventualities, as follows.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23 -- KJV)

"For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23 -- NWT)

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
(Romans 6:23 -- NIV)

Notice that all three of the above Bible versions say the same thing. There is no room in the verse above for literal eternal hellfire torment. It simply states that the person is (1) dead or (2) alive forever.

Yes, but if nothing can destroy your soul except god, it makes your soul almost immortal(meaning immortal unless god destroys it)
