Shake your head all you want, I couldn’t care less. His family has used him and his fiancé is looking out for him. When push comes to shove you stand by the side of your spouse, hence forsaking all others.

I understand what you are stating... however, would you agree we only need to forsake when "they" are seeking to cause division... correct ....families can and do get along even with those not in the faith?

A man shall leave his family to be with his woman. A woman shall leave her family to be with her man, hence forsaking all others (I should say if necessary). With God’s blessings and a little hard work it comes to fruition.

uh huh

read the responses of everyone else here

might add some insight to your opinion

Any advice would be appreciated.
Sorry to hear about this very conflicted situation. You would be wise to postpone your wedding indefinitely and see how things develop. It is entirely possible that you may have to break up your relationship with your fiance. She is complaining about others controlling you but she herself plans to control you.

It's not normal for a highschooler to take care of the household expenses like that but it does happen. I think she should see that as a good thing. She may want someone that grew up the same as her when a person like you may have better qualities

Forsake all others.

"7seasrekeyed, post: 4104854, member: 260610"]how exactly do you see that?

I think that means do not get involved with the opposite sex outside your marriage

I don't think it means turn your back on your family and especially not your parents

smh

well nothing has changed other than learning more about mr skin

You don’t have to turn your back on your family by any stretch, not would I suggest that. Forsaking all others means you stand by your partner’s side through thick and thin, right and wrong, good times and bad. You’re married, you know that.

oh I know what it means

been married almost 20 years

I know what it means

every person that responded...save one or two not sure....told him not to marry the woman

his family did not use him.....he is obviously having second thoughts but will prob go ahead anyway cause that is what people do. drive through red lights.

I really don't like it when a thread turns into a disagreement between 2 posters and now I am doing it myself

whatever

The issue here is that a potential spouse demands that the other spouse turn his back on his family OR ELSE... These two are heading for disaster any way you look at it.

I haven’t had time to read all the replies, but one thing that holds true whoever you marry you marry their family, pets, belongings, EVERYTHING! If she doesn’t like your family now, she could try to take you away from them later as much as possible which is not good. This should all be worked out BEFORE you get married. She should love your family as much as you do and visa verse because when you are married you become one under God.

I’ll be adding you to my prayers brother. It’s a good thing you are getting feedback now to help you deal with this before getting married.
