my boyfriend told me that he was a prophet and this is something that i have alot of trouble with. i left him because i felt he was controlling and possessive and im worried that i am actually rebelious to a prophet of the lord. it was a really violent relationship on both sides and im really glad its over but its something i still struggle with. there have been many instances in which it really seemed like he could hear from god. however, he told me god showed him a vision of me sleeping with someone else and always told me that i had cheated on him when i didn't. he says though this this might be bacuse i was unfaithfull in thought. it is true that sometimes i wonder if other men think that im good looking and other thoughts like this and i don't really want to be concerned by these things but i don't feel like i it was really as bad as he said it was. i always told him about it and did my best to be as honest as possible and i never cheated on him. he tells me that im going to suffer for what iv done to him and it really scares me. id really appreciate any advice, thankyou for reading this

Sounds like this guy is just a controlling psychopath in my opinion. Also seems that this guy you speak of possesses no qualities known of a prophet. I would stay as far away from this guy as possible.

Jesus said that there would be many false prophets:

Matthew 7:15
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Matthew 24:11
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

If this guy knows that you have fear and reverence of God, he will use that against you. He wants you to think that when you are disobeying him that you are also disobeying God Almighty. It is a control trip.

Galatians 5
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

What kind of fruit is he bearing? Does he possess any of these qualities? If not, that should be a red flag.
Like I said, it's a good idea to stay away from this guy, he sounds like bad news...

Oh wow, yeah I agree that you need to stay away from this guy. From everything you said, it sounds like he's extremely insecure and has therefore made up this business about being a prophet in order to keep you under his thumb. You say he claims to have had a vision from God that you were cheating on him, and that sounds like he was trying to get you to admit to having cheated on him...a normal person would just ask. Rather, a normal person wouldn't be worried about it unless you'd given them reason in the past.

Run away, run away!

I think he's a keeper!

but seriously...

I bet God gets pretty upset by man giving him all the praise for their inability to discern his voice from their own hearts. In your case it sounds more like his insecurities.

I would encourage you to look at the relationship. you said it was a violent relationship. Does how he treat you line up with how scriptures command husbands to treat their wives? Does his life line up with how Christ would want him to act towards you and the people around him?

you will know the tree from the fruit that it gives to harvest.

He's NOT a prophet! At least not from God! He has NO power over you and as for the suffering; unless he comes to Jesus, it will be his suffering not yours! Stay in the Word and Pray. Ask god for desernment and run from this guy!

I think he's a keeper!

lol This made me smile.

I would definitely be skeptical. He sounds manipulative to me. But I'm not going to rule out him being a prophet. I just wouldn't base it on a few general statements he's made such as what you fantasize about or that you'll end up sleeping with another man, because there are plenty of people who do these things. If he's told you that he saw a vision of you sleeping with someone else then now it's going to come true because you no longer want to be with him.

I'd definitely question him about these prophecies. Ask him how old you looked in his visions, what the other person looked like, etc. Because unless you remain celibate your entire life, of course you're going to end up sleeping with another guy because you don't like your previous relationship. duh. Best you can do is try to obey God in thought and action, pray for God's will to be done and discuss your feelings with God.

I hope God's wisdom will reign in both your lives so that you will both enter into godly relationships, have your wounds healed, and better obey God.

There were dodgey prophets back in the old testament.... except they got stoned!
Sister, remember that prophecy is meant to edify, to lift up; not hurt and pull down.
I would say you were smart for leaving him. Seek Jesus, read the word, wait on Him, and see how that makes you feel. How does it line up to how your ex-boyfriends' "prophecies" made you feel?

He sounds like one of those freaky cult leaders...

I'm with the others on this. I would run.

Sounds like you left a nut job. Don't give him another thought and enjoy your life without his garbage.
