Every document written by man is open to interpretation.....my view on the bible....it is written by God through men and instead of just letting it speak and taking it in a literal sense (unless context dictates otherwise) many tend to interpret, spiritualize away, twist, reject obvious context, verbiage etc......Which of these methods do you feel is the most reliable approach for reading scripture? Anyone???
So in my reasoning, I can conclude that the mentioning of morning and evening was a statement that they understood as being unknown for they didn’t know that time of 18 minutes in the morning and evening. when there is light but nothing to measure it with sun moon stars.
How many post you have taken to argue what constitutes a day when we are given the following:
2 Pet. 3:8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."
It only becomes a problem, interpreting scripture, when we fell we MUST form an opinion right then and there. Once we have decided a thing we find it harder to change our thinking. Far better, if we remain humble and realize we don't have to decide on anything immediately. We then become so much more teachable when the real interpretation presents itself.![]()
hmm well I apologize if I agitated you with my many post.
Hahaha... I am not agitated. I just wanted to express the futility of the "What is a day?" argument. I would like to add that it is not wrong for us to use some human reason and common sense to view the scriptures. Just so we don't rely too heavily on those. God gave us all these mental tools for us to use.![]()
Would that be like exegesis vs. eisegesis?
