What does christ death on the cross mean?
In the beginning God created Adam and Eve
At this point in human history, there was a relationship between man and God.
But Adam disobeyed God and the wage or consequence of the sin is death for all mankind (Romans 5:12-17).
After the fall of Adam, man has turned away from God (Romans 3:11-12).
So God chose a man called Abraham and promised him that he would be a leader of a great nation. A nation guided by Him.
At a certain moment in history, this nation of God began to disobey him. So God created the Law. Those who obeyed all his statutes would be saved. But no one obeyed the law because of sin in their hearts.
Throughout this period, there was a symbolic ceremony in which the priests sacrificed thousands of lambs to God to symbolize the forgiveness of sins.
But those lambs could never take away sin (Hebrews 10:1) because they were symbolic.
Nevertheless, from eternity God had a plan to take away the sin of man.
He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for sinners. Christ is the true Lamb. The Lamb is God!
All lambs were insufficient to draw even a single sin . But Christ is the Lamb of God, all-sufficient, which effectively took away all the sins of the world, who were put on him by divine imputation on the cross of Calvary. (Hebrews 9:26).
Thus, personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is the only way by which man can be saved. (Romans 4:23-25, 10:8-13).
