Hey everyone!!! I know this can be a very touchy subject...but it has been on my mind a lot lately....my school has just created a GSA (Gay straight alliance)...which got me thinking about homosexuals...i think this is a good idea, because in my eyes..all people should be treated equally. (You may have a different opinion, though!)

But the real thing that has been on my mind..is homosexuals holding jobs in the church...like being a minsiter, sunday school teacher, ect...
In my friend's church, they do not allow gay people to hold jobs like this, because they are gay... I'm not sure what i feel about this...Part of me knows that being gay is wrong...but why should we take the ability away from someone to spread the word of God just because they're gay?? Because aren't we all sinners??? hmm...this is something i have been pondering... let me know what you think!

Any sex that takes place outside of marriage is a sin, homosexual or heterosexual.

The Lord taught us to be chaste. I therefore would prefer a chaste pastor to one who is homosexual.
 
I just want to comment on one part of your post as this one thing has been extremely bothersome to me.

I've noticed people referring to everyone as "sinners." Sinners are those who are unrepentant in their sins and have yet to give their life to Christ. So while as Christians we sin, we're not sinners.

In Romans 6:23, the Bible states, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Why would God/Christ take us in if we were sinners?

Romans 8:9-11
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

As for your initial post:

Since it is possible, as a Christian, to have sexual attraction to someone of the same gender, it is considered a struggle. When you refer to someone as a homosexual, it means that they're living that lifestyle, not necessary that they have a struggle but they willingly partake of it and are unrepentant.

The Bible states that homosexuality is a sin (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Someone who lives in sin as such cannot also live in Christ. A church leader has to live by example. So if one is perpetually in sin, how can they lead us to better understand the Word of God when they are blatantly living against Him?

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

James 3:1
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

Matthew 23:13
But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.


Basically, a church leader's life should mirror that of Christ's. You can apply this to all sins.

The thing is, a lot of "Christians" actively hate gay people. This is wrong. Do most Christians hate normal, heterosexual people, who are not born again? No. Then why do they descrimintate against one kind of sin, but not another?

There is no acceptable reason; Jesus was a friend of prostitutes and tax-collectors. He didn't condone their ways; He condemned it. But He was still their friends. We should act likewise with gay people; act as a guiding force in their lives, but not condoning their homosexual ways.

Now, I know there are people out there who think that Homosexuality is something we are born with (Sexual orientation), not a choice we make (Sexual preference). They're incorrect; Homosexuality is an environmental factor, not a genetic one. For example, someone born in a certain environment is more apt to become a homosexual than someone who isn't in that environment; the same can be said for child abusers, alcoholics, and murderers; yet those people still choose to abuse their children, drink one more time, and murder. It is likewise with homosexuality.

I can speak for myself when I say the bible is clear on this and instead of trying to muddy the waters we should focus on doing what God commands. For those people that do hate in general they also need Get right with GOD.

It's never too late for you to repent and get right with GOD. To do this means GOD has to be your #1 priority all the other things in life have to be secondary it's non-negotiable when it comes to a successful relationship with GOD.

I wasn't trying to muddy the waters... I was trying to say two things at the same time:
1) Love gay people. They are your neighbors too.
2) Homosexuality is not a "curse from God/something you're born with", it's a choice.

Sorry if I was ambiguous!

No worries brother I'm not after you :) I know exactly what you meant.

I clearly communicate GOD is the top priority loud and clear to avoid any confusion.

In all cases GOD is the #1 priority that was the same yesterday and it was the same today and it will be the same tomorrow.

Let's just keep everything in perspective and preface it with God is the top priority

When we nourish that relationship with GOD everything else falls into place.
