Exactly. I'm not really quite sure why people would be here if they were not looking for the debates. Isn't that kinda the purpose here? True, debates sometimes become arguments, and that shouldn't be. But I've learned some fairly good lessons from people who were obviously still wrong ;).

I once requested something similar, "The Arena" where proper, more irenic, structured debate would take place. The idea really didn't get any support.

I have to agree with djness on this topic. On the Internet, everyone can voice their opinion and get people to believe them. Opinions are not often changed on a message board.
