If we could make ourselves live as God's people by keeping the law, then Jesus would not need to come, but we couldn't... or rather.. not even God's chosen people couldn't do it. Some christians think they can make themselves good by making promises to be a good husbands and a good fathers, but they will fail... the promises will only make them look worse.. as promise breakers.

Galatians 3: 21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. 22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. 26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

So now.. we live by faith in the Son of God to help us to live as His as we are His, bought with a price and sealed with that spirit of adoption. Jesus will help those christians to be good husbands and good fathers and good wives and good mothers without the deeds of the law of doing the best they can. but by faith in the Son of God.

Galatians 2:20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

the old law was impossible to keep, therefore the ultimate sacrifice had to be made .*Jesus* which changed the impossible to possible not in keeping the old law but by that sacrifice the new law is written in our hearts by the Holy Spirit and by our love for Jesus makes the impossible possible by having our desires changed to want to please Him ,and even when we dont succeed we are still righteous only by His sinlessness not our own. i guess what im sayin is old law only produced religion the new produced love . Big difference there :)

into their mind ; and write them in their hearts;and i will be to them a God , and they to me shall be a people.

Here's the thing about works. There is not a thing that you can do personally that will get you into heaven. Jesus already paid that price on the cross. HOWEVER, if you truly want to experience the fullness of God in your life you must understand that sin is a stench in the nose of God and that the Holy Spirit will not dwell in an unclean temple where there is unrepentant sin.

When you decided to ask Christ into your heart, basically what you have done is cut covenant with God to submit to his will for your life. Conscience unrepentant sin is a deal breaker. In order to experience the glory of God for your life, you must live a life of surrender which means you must be obedient to the Holy Spirit and willing to make the changes in your life necessary to establish His order for your life. Then and only then will the Glory of God begin to manifest both in you and through you.

In the words of one of my spiritual fathers, Damon Thompson: "It's not about what you have to give up. It's about what you will miss if you don't!"

God has a glorious plan for all of our lives however, often times our own will can get in our way. Nothing stops your spiritual progress faster than unrepentant sin. And if allowed to take root and grow, I personally believe that conscience unrepentant sin will send a person to Hell.

The bible says that no man (except Christ) is perfect and that all man sin. It is an unfortunate reality that no man can escape. However, God's grace overcomes all sin (Praise God!). One of the many roles of the Holy Spirit is to help us identify areas in our lives where we harbor unrepentant sin, unforgiveness being a perfect example of such sin. If we truly love God, we will want to do whatever it takes in order to resolve that issue. In most cases it's not easy but it is necessary in order to walk in the fullness of the Glory of God for our lives.
