How are you doing on your job?
• “The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness. A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.” (Pro 10:32,11:1).
It there are two hypotheses:
1 – You work with just weight and speaks only what is acceptable to the Creator;
2 – You work with false balance and speaks frowardness.
In the first hypothesis, the person follows the two advices below:
• “And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; that ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and *that ye may have lack of nothing*.” (1Thess 4:11,12).
• “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, *that he may have to give to him that needeth*.” (Eph 4:28).
In other words, the person works in order to follow Paul’s example:
• “For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because *we would not be chargeable unto any of you*, we preached unto you the gospel of God.” (1Th 2:9);
• “Yea, ye yourselves know, that *these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me*.” (Act 20:34).
The work is our excuse (or opportunity, if you prefer) to reach people that, in other way, are unreachable. After all, the rich needs mechanics, masons, electricians, plumbers, barbers, etc. We can get our way to them if we are honest, competent, diligent and with supernatural vision:
• “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.” (Pro 22:29)
So, let’s use our necessities, problems and, chiefly, our gifts to manifest Christ and His Truth to every people with whom we get in touch. If we are good and piety in our work, they won’t have way to ditch us. After all:
• “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” (Dan 12:3).
Finally, have a spiritual day doing all things without murmurings and disputings: that you may be blameless and harmless, son of God without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you should shine as light in the world, holding forth the word of life (Philippians 2:14-16; Matthew 5:14-16).
