How do We Call on God’s Name?
Quoting Joel 2:32, Paul declares: “Everyone who calls on the name of Yahweh will be saved.” (Romans 10:13) Calling on Yaweh’s name involves more than just knowing and using God’s personal name. (Isaiah 1:15) The context of Joel 2:32 stresses true repentance and trust in Yahweh’s forgiveness. (Joel 2:12, 13) Calling on God’s name implies truly coming to know him, trust him, obey him, and put him first in our life. Yes, serving Yahweh becomes our top priority. It involves accepting the pivotal role that Jesus plays in salvation. He is the “way”, “the truth”, and the “life”(John 14:6). Exercising faith in Jesus and following his example is a demonstration of “faith” in Yahweh. We thereby show appreciation for and acceptance of the greatest expression of God’s love for mankind in the giving of “His Only Begotten Son”(John 3:16). This opens the way for reconciliation and salvation. That, in turn, greatly contributes to a satisfying and lasting life, which is a blessing from God.—Matthew 6:33.
