Love is an act of the will. It is a choice. No where does the Bible say love is an emotion. Attraction is an emotion, yes, but love is an act of self-sacrifice. Examine what Jesus said about love in his 3 years of ministry. John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." Just two examples among many. The Holy Spirit gives us the grace to love because naturally we do not know how to love. But love is self-sacrifice and action, not emotion or lovey-dovey poetry.
