Of late I have ben wondering about WHY people want to "One Up" a fellow believer in their ''understanding'' of scripture. 1 Corinthians 13 says we know in part and we prophecy in part. So, in what way can anyone believe they are somehow special in any revelation of God? We know as we are given or as we discover or as we are gifted. Yet, it seems there are people who believe they can somehow downgrade others in open forum or discussion in a way that is demeaning or rude etc.

This is bothersome at the least and a stumblingblock to one or both at the most. Stumblingblock not being something petty. But, being something detrimental as defined in scripture.

There is no greater love than GRACE. There is no greater WORD than already given.

The compassion we should have for each other should be prmininat when we discuss scripture. It is given for reproof, correction etc as given to us in 2 Timothy 3:16.

Our belief is OURS, not someone elses. We learn from each other as we also teach each other. Everyone is not the same in this way. And everyone does not have all knowledge as to speak to people in this manner.

Love being the ONE thing we must have regardless of how much we know. And when someone elsecasts down another for their understanding in scripture it is not showing ANY LOVE.

It is showing pride, selfishness and lack of understanding of the basic tenet of scripture, LOVE.

Let people be who they are as long as they are searching and living for the TRUTH that God has given to ALL people. Let them discover it without being someone who cats them down for their understanding. Let them be the people of GOD in the faith GOD has given them abd NOT try to live their lives as YOU belive they should.

You are saved by the GRACE of God and YOUR own belief. You live by the Faith GOD gave YOU. Do not try to force others to believe as you do, but as GOD would have us believe. And do not try to tel people to live by the faith God gave YOU but let them live by the FAITH God gave them.

Let us learn together in LOVE. Let us also walk in the Spirit together. And not cast down others who are just as eager and willing to learn as well as teach as we are.

Love one another as I have loved you. Let them live their lives as GOD is directing THEM. Liberty in Christianity is a gift of God. Binding up people in YOUR understandings and beliefs is of man.

Teach and Learn in LOVE.

HOW TO ONE UP A FELLOW CHRISTIAN:

1.) Be arrogant.
2.) Be rude.
3.) Call out their Faith.
4.) Cast a stumblingblock for them.
5.) Demean them with rhetoric.
6.) Be a teacher always and never a student.
7.) Act like you know it all (and even if you do NEVER SHOW LOVE or COMPASSION).
8.) Get Angry at their opinions.
9.) Cast doubt on their gifts from God.
10.) Tell them they are wrong (because SURELY you know you are ALWAYS right).

The pride we have is because of the temptation to think we can be like God. In KNOWING everything. Not just good and evil. We want to know everything and when we seek the truth of God we tend to want to solicit what we learned as some kind of key to unlocking peoples lives.

Let people live theirs and allow them to learn without casting them out of fellowship. There is nothing worse than casting someone down with prideful speech.

Love is the key to unlocking the truth.

Another thread that cannot be understood.

Example: biblestudy room.....what is a 'One up" example?
If a discussion started and soon there would be 2 or 3 sides
who is the one throwing down? or thrown down?

Describe what you consider a stumbling block.
