A beautiful quote which I came by!
"Humility is perfect quietness of heart, It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me. It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed or despised. It is to have a blessed home in the Lord, where I can go in and shut the door, and kneel to my Father in secret, and am at peace as in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and above is trouble."

It brings to mind this verse:
1 Peter 5:6-7
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
2 Corinthians 4:7-10
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body."
When we begin to realize that we are nothing, and that God is everything, life becomes so much more beautiful. "He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30). "But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand." (Isaiah 64:8).
Doing things in our own strength and will is rooted to the oposite of humility, which is pride. We are but human, flesh and grass, nothing compared to the glory of God. It is better to look to Him, than ourselves. "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." (Psalm 118:8).
