I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm really excited to get to heaven. To get to the end of this life and reach my true potential. Just reading about the little bit we know leaves me hoping for so much more. Hoping to find one more little easter egg about what it will really be like. I haven't ever really done anything like this before, but it's going to be so incredible I'm sure.

The Hype (what we know):
We have confirmed that we will be getting new bodies[SUP]1[/SUP]. They will definitely be different than our current bodies, like nothing we've seen before it seems.

The Speculation:
What do you think these new heavenly bodies be like?

I think it would be pretty cool to be able to span distances extremely quickly. Being able to be with the ones you love just as quickly as you think of it. I'm not real sure, though, it seems like that may leave us too independent from God. I hope that we aren't all sparkly and stuff, light is great as a metaphor, but sparkles don't quite give off an idea of strength. God seems to value our individuality, hopefully that means that we will all have some uniqueness in our new body.

Other thoughts? What will these heavenly bodies be like?

[SUP]1[/SUP][1 Corinthians 15:44]

Disclaimer: This is just speculation, none of the thoughts above have been confirmed.

I think that in heaven we can have a body like a candle flame, or we can take the shape of a beautiful eternally young human version of ourselves. I wonder if we can change shape based on mood. Haha, I wouldn't know for sure. :D

I also heard from near-death experience stories that when you first float out of your body, you can see 360 degrees all around you, and up and down. There is no "back of the head" in your way. :) I think that would be neat.

It certainly seems to be an ascended form of our human bodies. To be honest I doubt its fundamental appearance will change much. Jesus still looked like himself after the resurrection. Immortality implies unlimited regeneration though, so I would expect those resurrected in old age to appear in their prime, whatever that may be.

Hmmm, this is an interesting thought. Do you think that one gets to glimpse heaven? Wow, that could be a whole different topic!! :O

I think Heaven will be personal and I think we keep our individuality, but also something so intrinsic that it is found in all human beings. That connects our soul with other souls and with God. As for how it looks, if I could choose my Heaven it would be Rivendell. I don't think it will be this space of white and cloud, but a perfect display of all God's creation. The way eden was before the fall. I guess I'll find out in 40-50 years, hopefully... Wow that's kind of a scary thought- we're not here for long! If that aint a reality check, I don't know what is.

JOHN 20:

BEFORE JESUS SAID HE WAS ASCENDING TO THE FATHER:

11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” 14 At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”).

17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

WHEN JESUS APPEARS TO THOMAS AFTERWARD:
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Because of these scriptures, I don't know that we will be all that different.
