Hi

I am an adult so I feel kind of silly posting this but here goes.

I really have been struggling feeling as though I am Gods second best at everything. At my church I have a friend who has a ministry which is similar to my own.We are both very creative. She is part of the creative worship department and I am not and God is elevating her in this area alot.I feel really jealous and left behind because people always say "O you are just like your friend".They say that I talk like her and act just like her. When really all I am doing is being myself.

I am supposed to join the creative team but I dont want to because I dont want to be compared, because I feel as though Im the second choice.I asked to perform for our church one sunday.Whereas she was asked to be part of the huge service and perform.Mine was only on a small scale.I felt like Saul and my friend is David.

I sometimes feel as though I tell her the stuff which I would like to do and then she takes it and makes it her own and everyone says how much they love it and they dont realise it was my idea.It hurts alot,to be the 2nd choice.

I have never told her that since I was a child I have wanted to act because she went to drama school and I have not and I know that the Lord is leading her in that way as she has had many prophecies whereas I have never had anything.

I feel so bad for feeling like Saul,I feel bad for being jealous at times,I feel bad for allowing my identity in God to be shaken like this...

I want to change please can somebody help me??

Thanx :(

I read your story. I don't really know what to answer you, but I know what you are going through. My stepmother also used to take credit for my ideas that she used. All I can tell you is that although it seems to everyone that you are the same as your friend, you are NOT! God made us all induvidual and special in our own way. Even You.

Just be faithful in God and keep on doing what you are good at and enjoy. But do it for the Glory of God. If you start doing it for God, you will have his blessing and annointing on you and believe me, people will start to notice it. Try it. Also, keep on being a good friend to your friend. For all that you know, she might see you as a role model and that might be why she is taking your ideas and making it hers.

Happywithin, Sister. Do your work unto the Lord with Joy and to glorify his name for that is what we are all called to do. We weren't created or called to please men, but to serve God and to bring Glory to Him, our motives must always be to bring Him Glory. Jesus came to serve and his own people rejected Him even though he truly is the Son of God, he gave Himself up to please His Father, in this same manner, the talent that our Father has given to us we should use it to Glorify Him and to please him, he will reward us for it. Do not be discouraged. If you are using your talents to please God, then you are doing what is right and Our Lord is more than pleased with you.

God Bless You! :)

Dear HappywithHim,

I do can understand how you feel, I do have been a bit in same situation. Though not having with a friend to do, most not feeling like I have been functioning in church as I'd liked to. Also about given talents given from God that I wanted to being a part of in a church, but yet others came more in front of me, whilst I wasn't paid much attention to. I do think I can relate some to how you feel.

Though at the same time, this being your friend elevating more in the creative department, must be very tough for you. I can see it all in front of me, also how much unseen you now feel as you are in this situation. And whilst you wish to be also noticed, and using this talent that God has given you.

I am now thinking that perhaps your friend is most noticed and easily chosen because of her going to drama school earlier? This is something that many people in your church might have heard from her parents or from friends of her, or maybe herself telling about it, and then it is easier for them to trust that she will be doing a greater act and being a good drama leader. Because of they knowing she went to drama school, this way this isn't something hidden in her not yet tried out nor undiscovered for them. You are what is an undiscovered talent in this area, though they do see you can act very well and look like a copy of your friend, perhaps they think that your actings are learned and based from by being a lot with your friend? Many times people in churches depend more easily on people with a lot of practice or done schools in several areas, as in her going to a drama school. Then it is easier for people thinking she is having a lot more experience and knowledge about it. This doesn't necesarily means that you are less talented nor less better than her, just a matter of them being too caught up in her school graduation in the drama area, maybe...

I think you should try to put your jealousy and sadness a bit aside, and start joining the Creative Department. That you are not much chosen doing some big roles in an act yet, and that they aren't asking you so much, doesn't means that you will never sometime elevate as well. That you already are seen as acting the same way as her, and are as good like she, to me it does proves a lot that you are very gifted by God in this area. She has been going to drama school, whilst you just have it in You. That is a very rare gift, 'cause many needs working up with themselves as in going to drama schools or other places to learning more about how to becoming an good actor. And you are just one of those natural talented actreeses. :) Now, if you would like going to drama school someday there is nothing wrong with that, and it is a lot of fun and you do learn a lot. But what I mean is that some persons already are very gifted, so they easily get more noticed when going to drama school, drama auditions, drama university, film auditions, etc....

Have in mind that what God has given you is something He has a purpose with, though we also need to do our part in getting more formed and shaped in the talents that God has given us. Like a diamond, our talents needs to be formed and shaped. Also now that we might have to start in the small first with our talents, as what you probably might have to do when joining the Creative Department. It is when you start in what is small, that you will later get trusted in what is bigger. This is also seen in a biblical way as with us and God. God sometimes tests us in seeing how we handle when getting into something small, as in a small part of a ministry, doing little things for God(as in church, or in your own), being faithful in the little things we do for Him. When we are faithful in the little He gives us, then He will be sure that He can trust us with handling bigger given things from Him as well.

So if you join this Creative Department, you have a chance to show them what you have in you. Sure, if you don't get very noticed in the start once you join there; You can at least focuse more on having fun, being yourself, and sharing ideas. Sooner or Later you do will get noticed. :) Keep in mind that it shouldn't become as a competition between you and her, this will only lead everything towards a worser situation and relationship for you both, and it will only give you even more heartache. God can also have something in this area for you for more later too, God didn't give us talents so that we would never use them for Him. We are to water and grow in what God has given to each one of us; First starting as a seed in the small, then letting this seed growing more and more bigger as we keep on watering and nurturing it. :)

I hope sharing this did help something...

God Bless You!

I read this quote once & loved it.
Faithful service in a lowly place is true spiritual greatness

it only matters what your precious Father in heaven thinks of you!
just be sure to check the motive of your heart in everything you do.
& trust Him to lead you in the special path HE has planned for you.
remember you are His precious precious daughter!!

Great advice. The Apostle Paul often warned the early churches against jealousy and division within the body of believers. His point was that everyone has a role to play, according to God's gifts, and that everyone's role is equally important. In Romans 12, he said "For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us..." (verses 4 through 6) In Galatians 6, verses 4 and 5, he said "Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load."

In God's eyes, your role in your church is just as important as that of anyone else. And you can be sure that He is taking note of your "friend's" propensity to claim your ideas as her own.

I believe that you should just keep to the path you are on. If God wants you to alter it, He will show you. In the meantime, comfort yourself with the fact that He is the Sovereign Lord and He recognizes your contributions.

God bless you.

Sounds like you have a pride issue happening. Read the sermon on the mount and read about our acts of service being done in secret

Hey sis, I had a similar thing happen.
I have a friend, she is really awesome and i love her,. she graduated from my high school last year( I am a senior). After she left in everything I did, except singing of course(, she is way better) people said all the time i sounded like her. I wrote notes to my classmates telling them how I think they are all special and one thought i did it because my friend ,apparently had done something similar last year.
I have no problem wat so ever because everytime I do anything. there are two things i must check for: Am I doing it for God, because he has called me to this and as an assurance of it all I know my love for God is real, no matter what the world says. It all lies between me and my God.
Love ya!

i felt this way before. your problem is.
1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”
God rejects looks but looks at the heart. I promise you if you compare yourself to people all the time you will be depressed.
compare yourself to people who died for sharing the gospel or someone who lives in a country with no electronics to share it.
What i had to do was quit looking at everyone else. quit trying to be better. there can only be one best and only God knows who it is and I bet a lot of times its the person no one even notices. The behind the scenes man that gets pushed aside. But no we look at the people who do outward things and get praise and we get jealous.
my best tip would be to focus on yourself. it's not about being the best. it's about helping God. When you go to a homeless shelter to feed poor and tend to the unfortunate should you worry about how good you look or if your the best? Or should you do your job.
Do what God has in front of you. Don't look at what others have, only yourself. It's not our business anyway what someone else does. Let God be the judge of whose doing the best job. we do a pretty bad job and waste time.
God bless
