Ive been living un godly and im seeking forgiveness and to be redeem ...should i cry In order for God to hear me or do I have to be sincere and mean it to get forgiveness?........Also how long should I read the word and pray?
To answer your last question first, I would say base that on how scared you are of going to hell.
In my experience, I tried all kinds of things to get God to hear me. You must be born again. That is, born of God, born from above, God says that He will put His spirit in you.
In Matthew Jesus says that many will say to Him on the day of judgement Lord, Lord. And Jesus will say, I never knew you, depart from me you worker of lawlessness.
So I didn't feel comfortable assuming that I was forgiven.
All you can really do though is ask, and seek the truth.
That doesn't mean you can go and try and act like a good person so God will save you. That is a lie.
There are acouple verses I will point you too. See if you can figure them out.
The first one is very important.
Mark 1:15(words of Jesus) and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
This one might scare you a bit.
Romans9:15 For He says to Moses,
“I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” 16 So then
it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.
and this.
Romans4:
7 “ Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.”
Now here is a parable that Jesus taught.
5 And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;
7 and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’?
8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.
9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if
he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish?
12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will
your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
