I picked David. Who would you pick?

We’ve talked before in this forum about people in the Bible with which we most closely identified. I was thinking this afternoon about which of them displayed the sort of character I would look for in a man. I settled on David because of his humility, his submission to the Lord, his unwillingness to retaliate against Saul (takes a real man to do that), his faith that God would keep His promises, his fearlessness when it appeared to human eyes that all was against him, his humanity and admitted weaknesses (in the Psalms and the whole Bathsheba thing..), his resilience when his child died, the passion in his music, the gentleness of a shepherd, the honesty of his confessions, his boldness, and his endurance (he failed, but never gave in). Most of all, his heart.

Which would you pick and why?
 
i pick david for the same reasons, for all his mistakes, he was a murderer and and a cheat yet God still called him a man after his own heart because of his repentant hear and his love for Godt he knew his weekness and wasnt afraid to admit it when God sent the prophet to show him what hed done , didnt blame anyone else for his mistakes, , but boldly and humbly came before God with all his fears and failings...
 
Stephen. Part of the reason is that we share a name. That and, though his life was short, it was memorable because he walked with the Lord from a young age and seamlessly continued the walk into eternity.

I can also identify with someone who held unpopular opinions that he continued to preach and fight for until death.

Wow I really like all the things that you said about David, but when I first read the heading I thought Paul.

Why? Maybe because I get him most. I like that he never claims to be perfect and that takes humility. I like that he is so SURE he is forgiven and although he has done a string of things against the Lord, he knows he is forgiven and can move forward in what the Lord has for Him.

I love his way with words and his ability to express the truth. You can see the underlying love of his brothers and sisteres in Christ even when he has to be harsh in his speaking.
 
I would say David too, the psalms are beautifuly written. : )
 
Paul. He iss the best example of repentance, humility, and faith for me. And because he is the one I've read the most :)
 
Umm..so even the guys want to marry David and Paul? :) Surely there are some ladies in the scriptures who might be more suitable. :)

well, i like Moises, because he had defects and problems in the way of talking but he lead all those ppl when God asked him, he was brave when the faraon denied his freedom, he prayed for the forgiveness of the God when the ppl started to be apart of Him, so i really like the personality of Moises, i think he was humble, brave, had mercy for the ppl.
 
I thought it was about who we most identified with. In that case I'll pick Rahab because no one else will probably pick her since she was a prostitute.
