I think Christians can't be good managers

i think a christians doesn't have have what it takes to be a manager...what would you do if a homosexual comes and apply or that same person has a crush on you and tells you...besides, you have to do whats best for the company, even if an employee asks for forgiveness

I disagree. They shouldn't treat homosexuals differently from anyone else. They are people too. You can give them respect without agreeing with what they are doing. I know plenty of Christians who are managers and they are great.

You are right. I think TDWP22 is confusing what Christians believe with how they act. Certainly, we believe that homosexuality is a sin, but we also believe that our greatest responsibility as Christians is "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12)

As a matter of fact, I believe that Christians make the best managers since they tend to be (a) honest, (b) compassionate, and (c) willing to compromise. Good managers command respect, they don't demand it. And most people tend to respect Christians, even if they don't like them.

well i disagree completely...im studying business administration, and the problem is that Christians just dont have that mentality of taking advantage of things...and you really dont need to be so compassionate as one..honest yes, but there are time when you will need to lie for the sake of the company
 
I really shouldn't touch this one with a ten foot pole, but all I am going to say is...My christian hubby is a very good manager.

I think the best managers "should" be Christian, because if they practice morals and integrity on the job while managing people, and are fair and compassionate, they would gain the utmost respect from the employees. I have seen "not so good and fair" Christian managers, but that's probably because they were stressed out to begin with and made their Job #1. A Christian manager should never have to "lie" for any reason. NOt only would it ruin his reputation but no one would ever trust him again. No one should be a manager to begin with if they don't like to manage people.

Christian or not Christian there is never a reason to lie. Just because someone is not Christian does not mean they do not have morals. A good manager should be compassionate.

well i will only take opinions from managers or soemone who knows how businesses works...i will not argue with inexperienced or unknowledgeable people...sowwy =[

just because im not a manager doesn't make me unknowledgable about whether someone's religion makes them a good manager or not. Its not religion its morals and work ethic.

although i took both a business law and business management college class, I'm completely stupid. I'm not arguing but whatev after this ill stop talking to you about it(:

now that i think about it, christian make good managers, so sorry for the trouble...but now im thinking they would be terrible business owners
 
I studied advertising, marketing, owned my own business and have been a manager in a few small businesses. I wasn't a christian during any of those times, but thats besides the point. The point is that this whole business of claiming that you have to lie in order to get ahead in business is false. In fact, lying to get ahead in business will come back and bite you in the you-know-what when you least expect it. Customers are not stupid (even if they seem that way). If you lie to them they will figure it out and they will tell everyone they know that you are a liar and your business and reputation will suffer. If they are telling you that you have to lie to get ahead then that school you are going to is doing you a HUGE disservice.

Customers truly appreciate honesty and one huge part of marketing and business is building TRUST in your customers. If a customer has 10 different choices of companies to go with they will always choose the one that they trust the MOST. Even the smallest hint of dishonesty will turn customers away faster than you can say "don't go!" The public might not be very bright as a whole but when they are spending their hard earned money they are as sharp as a blade!

im not saying...but sometimes some do...BP has been doing their "green washing" scheme, so they can gain the costumers trust back, you and i know that costumers can be manipulated easily...
 
Yes well BP is already so successful and they have so many lucrative contracts with companies that lying to the world and covering up the real damage of the spill won't really hurt them financially. Many people have already swore to never buy BP gas again but selling gasoline is just a fraction of their business.

Yes, consumers can be manipulated easily, and if a company can afford to lose a bunch of customers then it might not matter so much, but they will definitely lose sales and revenue if the public finds out they've been lied to.

But the original point of the thread is about individuals being good managers. A good manager is always honest with his employees and supervisors. I can't think of any scenario where lying would be a good choice when it comes to dealing with fellow workers, even if you are their supervisor. Anyone who lies to get ahead is walking on thin ice because if he/she is found out they can lose their job.
 
To say Christians would make lousy managers because they do not have the capacity to well... shortchange you or make the hard decisions that come along with being a manager or because homosexuality is contrary to the scriptures is to say the least LUDICROUS. If a person who is "gay" and is working for you and "comes on to you" REBUKE them, then FORGIVE them perhaps they did not have the benefit of the moral upbringing of yourself. We should extend our hand to our brothers and sisters who have fallen not persecute them. As a business owner and operator I have had the displeasure of finding my tools "missing" and yes I was pretty mad about it at the time but as it is said" forgive us our trespasses that we may forgive those who trespass against us"
By the way that is a very interesting picture you have for an avatar TDWP22what is it of?
 
So what I hear TDWP22 saying is God can't manage? When ever I'm in charge, I pray for wisdom and ask God to help.
I would hope other Christians would do the same. God is in control.
