Hi to all,

I'm a woodworker that has an appreciation for vintage equipment. A lot of my machines are older than me and I'm 60 years old. A problem with older equipment is that the owners manuals are usually long gone so when problems arise, figuring out the 'fix' can be a problem.

Recently I was provided with a vintage scroll saw from the early 1950's (Yates American). This thing is 99.9% original and runs like a dream. On one of the first days using it I started breaking blades right and left. Went through about 24 before I got really frustrated and just cried out "LORD! What's going on? What am I doing wrong here? Please help!" I just sat and was still for a few moments and sure enough HE fixed my eyes on the area of the machine that was causing the problem. The bottom part that holds part of the blade in place was actually missing 2 very small pieces of metal that protect the blade from the pressure of 2 even smaller 'set screws'. I made something to fix the problem and got back to work. Breaking blades is now at a normal level - they are quite thin and fragile.

So I PRAISE and THANK GOD that HE is smarter then me. HE knows how my machines work, what it takes to keep them running properly, and frequently 'fixes' my eyes on parts that need attention before they cause problems.

haha this is a cool story oldman
yeah I sure am glad HE is smarter than us

Another cool and important thought is that GOD, creator of all there is, is willing to spend time with me in the shop and often softly speak to me step by step directions when I get stumped making something new. Words like 'thank you, LORD' seem woefully inadequate.

LORD, I am heartfelt grateful for your daily presence and guidance there.
