Hi Chelsea, The very concept of being saved means that there is something that u need to be saved from.and in this case its sin, and the results of sin. Jesus deals with the problem of sin, which is rebellion against God, and doing your own will opposed to doing His will, im not necessarily talking about acts of sin, or wrongdoing but more the case of we are born into a state that we are unable to please God, we are born sinners because we are unable to do His will because it takes faith, and we are unable to know him because we are only natural, and perceive through our natural senses, God and His presence are foriegn to us - until we come to the place where we realise our need (which can only happen by the drawing of the holy Spirit). Without God we are just Flesh. We cannot know God, because He is Spirit, we are seperated from God, by nature, and to be reconciled to Him we need to rely on the sacrifice that was made by Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins, He paid the price in our place, because death is the penatly for sin, which is a spiritual death and a pysical death and a seperation from life, which is God. Through His death we are now able to come to God the Father through Him, when we confess our sin - that we are in fact a sinner - unable to meet the requirement that God demands which it total righteousness - and come to Christ, and believe on Him and receive the free gift of salvation that He paid for with His life, that we might be restored back to God - all of our sins covered , and the sin that we were born into being covered by His blood. The bible says that if you confess your sin, that if you believe that jesus christ died(for your sin) and was raised again to life in his body, and that He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, you will be saved. It is faith in Jesus Christ alone that can save and nothing else or no one else can do it. You need to make the choice in your own heart to follow christ, and to receive im into your heart. just ask Him. Im not sure if your part of a church or wether you have researched this topic much but even after the intial choice to follow christ u should have some one pray with you and lead you in the prayer of salvation, and you need to commit to a church somewhere that you can grow and learn about your faith. there is so much to it, and its a glorious journey, the most amazing thing you will or can experience is getting to know God, and having him manifest Himself in your life and change your heart. There is no such thing as just a quick prayer and your saved though. Salvation is about first receiving Christ by faith but then salvation from this world, from our old nature is a continual process and is a thourough work of God that takes a lifetime, its about dying to your own desires daily and living for Him, doing His will, having Him do His will through you, its about sacrifice, now that He has given His life for you, you give Your life for Him. the rewards are immensely worth it but the sacrifices are also great. You also need people around you that can help you with answering the questions you will have, i advise finding a spirit filled christian church, that teach the word of God(bible) and that believe that Jesus Christ is the only True God. Hope this helps, its only briefly touched on what faith n Christ is about, there will be a lot of learning you will need to do, but the journey will be awesome and full of light for you because God is Light, and He is Love. bless you sister. message me if youd like to know more, will be happy to help.
