The eastern tent caterpillar is toxic to horses. It has been linked to mare reproductive loss syndrome in horses, but the exact mechanism by which the caterpillar triggers abortion has yet to be determined. Experimental studies have shown that when pregnant mares are fed eastern tent caterpillars, they abort.

Yep, exactly. It can be grievous to see innocent creatures like horses and others having to suffer. Of course when the curse of sin came into this world, the consequence and suffering would impact all.

And yeah on a positive note though, it is really incredible how God designed every living creature (from the smallest like the caterpillars to the larger creatures) and placed special provisions in their very make up and design to survive the freezing subzero cold temperature that would cover parts of this planet after the flood took place. We serve an amazing and awesome God.
